Tetsuya Nomura revealed today on the official ShinRa website that FINAL FANTASY VII: Advent Children will be released in Japan on September 14th, 2005.

DELAYED!

The latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly says that Sony Pictures has delayed the North American release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. They've said they plan on releasing the title "This holiday season" The UMD and DVD (2-disc set) will both feature bonus content such as behind the scenes featurettes, trailers and more.

Is it already out in Japan? Or are they delaying it for both countries?

Also, just noticed since the downtime that the live cam is showing the titel screen for it. I'm getting pretty excited to see this movie now.

Along with the usual informative previews, controversial reviews, and ads for cell phone wallpaper, the issue boasts a massive cover story of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII project, featuring in-depth information on the multiple FFVII spin-offs headed your way.

You'll have to pick up the issue for the full scoop, but here's a bit of sobering news: Contrary to previous reports, the full-length CG motion picture FFVII: Advent Children will not be launching stateside simultaneously with its Japanese counterpart on September 13th. Instead, Sony Pictures plans a U.S. release on both UMD and 2-disc "Special Edition" DVD this "holiday season." What does that mean, exactly? Probably a mid-to-late November release, as the publisher wants to get those lucrative day-after-Thanksgiving "Black Friday" sales.

No official theatrical release is planned, although Square Enix has hinted at the possibility of one-off promotional events in major markets. We'll keep you posted.

Oh, and the 2-disc DVD will feature some trailers, bonus features, and behind-the-scenes stuff, but not that cool 'Last Order' anime short that's included in the ridiculously expensive $300 Japanese limited edition. Sucks to be us!”

"Some sites are reporting that Advent Children's US release date has been pushed back to November. Please note that these are rumors only at this time. Recently when contacting Square-Enix about the release date, we were told that an exact US release date was never announced, but a plan for a release in the same time period, which appears to slightly contradict information released at E3. We will keep you updated of any further official word regarding this.

We have decided to create this topic here to help avoid further repeat topics in Advent Children discussion. Prior to this we had refrained reporting this news, as we have reported news on release dates before only to find them to be false.

For those who are unaware, 1UP.com has reported that the release date has been pushed back to November, but have not given a reason for such, nor stated any official word from Square-Enix. Interestingly they do mention a Limited Edition [does not contain Last Order] also. This report by them has caused the influx of questions about such to appear on the forums."

Too bad, I was really anxious to see it! Oh well, guess we'll have to wait until then. I hope it's not going to be released in November. I'm gonna be busy with Kingdom Hearts 2.

now not to say i condone this behaviour, buuuut if you really wanna see the movie im sure (judgeing by the HUGE ff7 fanbase) that this Japanese version will be fansubbed quicker than you can say "nooo aries dont die!!!!!" so check out your local pirates for that doozy, but i will probly buy an english copy also, but im itching to see it and i dont mind reading subs :p

You can get the bt for the subbed version there. There are also figures released in Japan for the title. The first set is Vincent, Tifa, and Sephiroth. I have them and took some pics:
