square enix has already said that there will be no online features for the game. i think we've got enough of that with FFXI and Tetra Master

Of all FF8 was the one i hate. I got the systems, i knew what to do, but the story was crap. Those were not plot twists, they were just random points thrown out of no where with no previous indication that they may be coming. I gave up at Disc 3 when the whole "compress time" thing flew out of a monkey's butt.

The game looked great, but i just couldn't stomach the story anymore.

I hope it isn't littered with references to pop society like FFX-2 was. FFX-2 was the biggest discrace to RPGs to date.

I'm also REALLY getting sick of these expletive delted tiny sissy-mary main characters that look like COMPLETE wusses. Is it too much to ask for a masculine or rough type of main character?

FFVIII was hated because it wasn't designed to be a copy-and-pasted version of FFVII. Square learned that their fans are tasteless children that like to be enterained by a expletive delted story that made little sence, and had ZERO emotional interaction between characters.

Fumitsu Magazine released a DVD featuring a new FFXII trailer. Not that much new footage, but it's good to see it all in much better quality.

As anyone can see from your warned posts, you have some serious tolerance issues. I think the characters all look great (I have some reservations about the "bunny," but...). And although I really like the way Square has portrayed love in the past, I'm looking forward to a game where it won't be such a big deal. Good for them.

And I see a really strong Vagrant Story connection in the art, and I think that's great too.

Yeahup - even the music is near identical to stuff in FFT and vagrant story. X was ok. X-2 was way less than stellar . . . but this one deffinitly has me hyped.

the only reason this game has about all the same kind of music from fft and ffta is because it takes place in a world called ivalice just like the tactic worlds and the bunny person is called a viera they consist of only females and are quite strong and about the main characters in some of the games lookin girly and small it's because the characters designers at square are most likely all homosexuals and btw if youve played fft or ffta u will probably understand the story of ffxii alot better

If you haven't noticed by now, most nearly all of Final Fantasy's latest lead characters have been light haired, fair skinned young boys. One of the most logical explanation for this is the shift in targeted audience for the games. The Final Fantasy series is obviously targeted at a younger audience than it was 10 years ago.

Mirroring the fact that Final Fantasy women have become younger and younger and are wearing less and less, Final Fantasy men have become more like Tidus and Vann. This allows for younger boys playing the game a more realistic role model in the game (I'd find it easier to relate to someone my age than some 30 year old dude with too many muscles and too much chest hair), and younger girls playing the game to find someone to be more admire (not many girls my age would prefer Wakka or Barrett to Tidus or Aldo).

Characters in the games have always been changing. Ashe is a prime example...one of the first major female characters to be "strong sword-wielding warriors," as the developers explain. Her strength develops the intended storyline, much like Yuna's insecurity or Tifa's helplessness over her love for Cloud. Everything about a character, from physical appearance to mental state, contributes to the themes and ideas represented by the game's story.

UPDATE

Square Enix announced a new character for Final Fantasy XII, a young Hume girl by the name of Pannelo. Pannelo is the protagonist Vaan's girlfriend. According to some sources, Pannero is a Bard/Dancer.









Final Fantasy XII is currently scheduled for a June 2004 release in Japan, with a speculated Fall 2004 release following for North America.
