English FFXII site is up. Nothing really new there, but if anyone wanted to check it out, I figured this was the place to post it.

Blah, FFXII is so last year ><, i used to be all hyped about it and stuff but damn SE managed to turn me off imensily with their huge delay..

Seriously, shouldnt a company this big have some better marketing measures? By the time the game comes to europe... the PS3 will be commonplace and all ill be thinking about is FFXIII ><

What really got me was this quote, especially coming from a fellow FFXI player:

          (2) The game plays exactly like FFXI. The MMOG one. Pretty much everyone knew this going in, but actually playing it and realizing how the gameplay engine is virtually exactly the same, well, it's a bit surprising. The only real addition to FFXII versus FFXI is that now there is a little indicator arc which goes from the aggressor to the target, whether it's your party or the enemies, so you can easily see who's attacking who. Also, there is now an ATB-style meter that fills up next to the names of your party members, so you can anticipate when they will get to attack again. It otherwise is identical in gameply mechanics. Hint to everyone else who might have tried this or the demo: running in circles around the enemy does NOT make you dodge their attacks better. So don't bother. I was also surprised to see the enemy chains and the Renkei skillchain system was transferred to FFXII intact from FFXI with no major modifications. If it ain't broke, I guess Square didn't want to fix it. So, if you've played FFXI, for better or worse, you'll feel right at home. If you have at least played WoW or EverCrack, the principle is the same. If you haven't played any traditional MMOG, FFXI will feel very different, especially if you are a veteran of other FF games and are used to ATB.
LOL ... ? Oh god, no, I play a standalone FF title to get away from FFXI.

I have, however, been having fun chaining enemies. However, it seems that Squenix has put in a Max Chain of 999. I thought I would get to 99 and have Max Chain, but nope. I despair to think of how anybody could ever muster up the patience to mindlessly kill 999 enemies just to see what Max Chain is like. As it is, it took me 2 hours to kill 161 and I got so desperately bored that I just said fuck it and stopped. I doubt I'll ever try to get Max Chain in this game.

The collector's edition tin case is kind of fancy. I'll probably buy it!

It doesn't play exactly like FFXI... it differs immensely, even though it is similar. That guy seems clueless.

I take it you've played the game? If so, post your review now.

Please? No. More like, "show me the money." Basically boils down to someone's dislike for a review when there's nothing to prove with for or against it.

There are a lot of different ways you could have worded it. It just looked like a command to me, which you are in no position to make.

all i have to say is this is going to be make it or break it time for the series if this one sucks, alot of ppl were dissapointed in FFX-2 myself included and if they do FFVIII over again they better not screw it up, or SE is going to have hell to pay, that was my first and faviorate,

Unless it changed from the demo, the chains in XII are for killing the same type of enemy consecutively with no time limit rather than any enemy equal to or higher than your level within a time limit. I believe what you get is more/better items and HP/MP recovery orbs. The demo also had a wierd inverted version of ATB with movement rather than actual realtime combat of an MMO. Aside from Items and Summoning, all the actions take the same time to resolve whether it's a sword swing, gunshot, Poisona spell, Flare spell or Roxxor.

                            ATB:
bar charges >> menu opens >> player selects ability >> it executes
(Waiting to enter a command after the menu opens wastes time.)

                            FFXII:
player opens menu >> selects ability to execute >> bar charges >> it executes
                            or
character defaults to Attack >> bar charges >> it executes
(Changing the command while the bar is already charging wastes time.)

It's the same kind of hybrid as ATB, not really real time and not really turn based.

Those are significant differences to me. I played the active scenario first and it didn't really feel like FFXI to me (which I played with a PS2 controller.) But again, I'm speaking of the demo, not the final version, and things could have changed between November(?) and March.
