Well, since we're a long way away from February 14th...is there a new release date? I'd all but forgotten about this game. Guess E3 will have most of the answers ><

It's been a while...again. -.-;

Final Fantasy XII's release is currently in hiatus and an official release date has still yet to be confirmed by Square Enix. All that is known is that it is still planned for this current fiscal year, which ends in March 2006.

Funny I should say that.

At Square Enix Party 2005, SE officially announced the real, true, and (hopefully) final release date for FINAL FANTASY XII, their grand finale for the FINAL FANTASY series on the Playstation 2. The game will ship to Japanese retailers on March 16th, 2006. This of course, follows even the predicted Japanese release date of the Playstation 3. Most are guessing that the release window for the English version will be similar, about 4-6 months for localization of the game and release in American stores.

In addition, former Square Enix conductor announced that he returned to Square Enix to conduct the main theme of FINAL FANTASY XII, entitled "Kiss Me Goodbye." The theme will be performed by Angela Aki, and according to Uematsu, it's his favourite Final Fantasy theme to come along in a while.

I'll have more on FFXII as it's revealed, hopefully we'll get a few more bits of news before the party is over!

Im very disappointed, no footage, no gameplay screenies, no nothing... 3 days have passed since the party thingie and not much was revealed, atleast i cant find anything... Le sigh.

Release date? Did they need an event for giving us that? -.- I want VISUALS darnit.

Actually, there were 200 Demo booths for the game, as well as a 30 minute trailer feature for upcoming titles. None of those screenshots have made it through, but you can read various previews and hands-ons at different gaming websites.

Unfortunately, Yasumi Matsuno has stepped down from his position as producer of FINAL FANTASY XII. Matsuno is temporarily leaving work with Square Enix due to illness. Akitoshi Kawazu, best known for his directorial work on the SaGa series, will replace Matsuno in the position of producer. The game is still on track, and is "just one step away from completion," as Square Enix said in the official statement.

Hopefully Matsuno-san will recover soon, and hopefully we'll be seeing the release of the very last FINAL FANTASY game on the Playstation 2. ^^

I looked at screenshots for FFXII on Ign last night from that event. They are out there. I don't know if it for premium members or not but I do have a premium account. But I kind of doubt it.

Yes his visits to the temple were not for the game. It was for his health and for good wishes to the person replacing him. Funny how things get warped into something else sometimes. LOL

Behemoth has remained basically the same monster throughout the series. There's always a few changes here and there, sorta like Bahamut.

If you didn't already know, they reuse a lot of names and monsters. They change them up a little bit but it's all basically the same thing. It's their only sense of continuity.

It also promotes FFXI in a way. You play FFXII and talk to your friend about it. He says "Ya did you see the mandragoras? They are exactly like the ones in FFXI." It peaks his interest and could possibly lure him to FFXI when he's done with FFXII. So its not all laziness, there is a method to the madness sometimes.

Sorry man, I hated FF9. FF8 is my favorite and from what I realize I'm in the minority on that one. Everybody loves FF7 or FF10. They were both really great, but FF8 was my favorite. >_>
