    Eh I just leave it on Gaming Mode and it never bothers me unless it's important.

      All anti-viral software sucks, some just suck less than others. Avast is OK but you have to train it to not be intrusive during hours that you're actually trying to be productive. Kaspersky and Trend Micro are pretty good too.

      Stay away from MacAfee. Horrible quality control on their updates (they've screwed up a couple of times and crashed user's Windows with their patches at least twice to my recollection). Symantec is decent but it's a resource hog and wants to wrap your PC in bubble wrap.

      I paid for Malware-Bytes Pro and haven't regretted it ever since. Also haven't had a single virus/malware issue ever since.
