Re: Mr. Paul Goes to Washington
While I otherwise detest that poor excuse for a human being and his crackpot father...
Props to him for actually taking a stand and doing his fucking job. THAT is how you are supposed to filibuster - the way it's generally done now is the politicians phone it in, and have one of their staff simply say "I object" on their behalf; it's a freaking joke. Well, Mr. Paul is now the 2nd member of Congress in recent years to do this (Bernie Sanders did it a few years back in protest of a deal Obama was making with the republicans).

Re: Mr. Paul Goes to Washington
Yeah as much as I support Obama, the *extremely* vague drone policy is incredibly disconcerting and needs to be seriously addressed. Do I trust Obama to use them responsibly? Yes. Can't say the same for future Presidents though, and you absolutely can not have a policy in place that's guided by the morals/ethics of whomever currently holds the Office rather than the letter of the law.

The government as a whole is becoming less and less trustworthy, which is saying quite a lot given their track record.
For everything I'll disagree with Rand Paul on later, I have to tip my hat to him for actually causing a fuss about this issue.Server: Midgardsormr -> Quetzalcoatl -> Valefor

Look at it this way: EVEN IF you trust Obama, do you really trust the guy that succeeds him?Originally posted by ArmandoNo one at Square Enix has heard of Occam's Razor.Originally posted by ArmandoNintendo always seems to have a legion of haters at the wings ready to jump in and prop up straw men about hardware and gimmicks and casuals.Originally posted by TaskmageGOD IS MIFFED AT AMERICA

In other words, while I personally trust in Obama's judgment, I still don't like the idea of President having the authority to just off someone via a drone strike on the off-chance they may be a threat. You just can't leave something vague like that up to personal discretion; there has to be clear cut rules one way or the other.
Speaking of which, apparently the administration issued a statement saying that no, they won't. So there's your answer Mr. Paul.
