    Re: Obama Wins 303 : 206

    /air wank

This election changed where we're at very, very little.

Oh well, no one can tell me I wasted my vote on Gary Johnson. Mitt Romney won NC's electoral votes but lost the election so me voting my conscience - as usual - didn't magically steal away votes Romney needed to win. Romney voters, by voting for the Republican establishment's candidate, wasted their votes.

Had they listened more to the likes of Ron Paul, Gary Johnson, Andrew Napolatano and others - especially on social issues - they might have won a lot more voters to turn the tide they needed to. The Tea Party should also take this loss to heart given they seem to think no compromises are the way to go.

That said, Republicans picked up more governor seats , putting them at 29, the Dems at 20 and 1 independent. What does that mean? Expect more state challenges to Obamacare. While the Supreme Court upheld the federal mandate, there are still plenty of other issues with it to pick apart and the states will fight them.

Washingon, Maine and Maryland made gay marriage legal, so this means we now have 9 states where gay marriage is legal and still 25 where you can marry your first cousin.

Colorado and Washington legalized marijuana, which is great news for snack, soda and pizza businesses. This also means people can stop using the countryside of Colorado to hide all that pot. Trust me on this, I went to college in Boone, NC, there's places to hide that stuff. Once sould not rest too easy about it becoming legal, as there will be new DUI-ish laws set in place to nab stoners if they decide to drive - though most would have to peel themselves off the couch our out or a nap to do that.

Kinda glad Obama has a second term, if Romney got in, Europe would be worse off than it already is.

What's wrong with marrying my first cousin? She isn't any worse than my second cousin.

I'm just shocked California wasn't the first state to legalize marijuana. We voted on it last election and it narrowly missed approval. I think legalizing it is a good thing. It doesn't hurt you more than smoking or alcohol consumption does, we might as well get some (alot) of tax dollars from it...

Give it time. Like Marriage Equality. Progression is slow, especially if you have an overzealous, religious population hell-bent on stopping it.

Just remember that the majority of the group in opposition to Marijuana is either at or quickly approaching retirement age.

It won't be that much longer.

When I see people campaigning at the local and state level for their third party candidates, I'll stop giving them shit for throwing their vote away on their candidate every four years.

Meanwhile, Obama's speech was fantastic. Romney's was full of delicious tears, and I'm super happy for Elizabeth Warren, Tammy Duckworth, Claire McCaskill, Tammy Baldwin, and my friends who reside in Washington, Maine, and especially Maryland. I have some friends who are already married in New York, but who have been living in Maryland due to work. I'm so glad that they will be able to have their marriage legally recognized again.

I would love for someone to tell me why Gary Johnson is anything but a snake oil salesman, but I can already tell you that you're not going to change my mind on that. I hope none of you gave him any of your money.

Damn, dude. So I should throw my vote away on someone I don't believe in just so I can say I was on the winning team? How's that DOMA repeal Obama promised you four years ago, coming by the way? If you want to talk about someone being a snake oil salesman, maybe you should start with your own guy.

No, you should just stay home, because you don't seem to understand how the fucking political process actually works. Amazingly, shit is complicated. Get out there and help to make it a reality for a third party to actually have a chance at winning an office. ANY OFFICE. And then, THEN aim for the big job. I mean seriously. You're smarter than that.

Obama's not perfect. I've never said he was. But I'm pragmatic. I know what my options are. I also know how our three branches of government work, and I know what the President's powers actually are. And I know what Obama has done. Gary Johnson though? A fucking charlatan.

Yeah, but some people don't realize not voting your conscience IS throwing away your vote.

Back in 2000, someone that wanted to vote for Nader and voted Gore was a coward in my mind and its how I always feel when someone gives into peer pressure for any one party. You don't vote for people based on their statistical chances of winning, you vote for the person you personally believe in.

Obama is a total loser and plays lip service to perhaps 25% of my values, he isn't fiscally conservative at all.
Romney is a total loser and is part of a party that talks a big game on fiscal conservatism, but consistently outspend democrats when in power.
Johnson speaks to all my values. He means his liberal social issues, he means his fiscal conservatism and limited governmet. He had two terms as governor proving that.

Voting Libertarian or Green Party might not win elections, but it can speak volumes, particularly to the majority loser. I could be a republican if they meant what they said fiscally and didn't maintain social values from the 1950s. If I knowingly vote for people that don't mean what they say and have values like that, I am throwing away my vote because it won't make them change. Republicans need a little more Ron Paul and Gary Johnson in them.

If they did, they would have had been more attractive to younger voters. With the core baby boomers moving into their retirement years, a shift is taking place and its time to start paying attention to the new core of voters than those who were born in the 1940s and 50s.

You know, those of us stuck with the bill.
