Day 1. Upper body 1: complete. I've got my weight all figured out. Currently eating a can of tuna over brown rice paired with a protein shake. Tomorrow is lower body 1.
LEAST FAVORITE EXERCIZE: lat pulldowns
FAVORITE: curls (still got it baby! 50lb curls!)
I love Tuna and rice. If I have it cold and add vinegar I pretend I'm eating sushi.
Anyway be careful not to push yourself at first. There's absolutely no shame at all in just doing light exercise while your body adjusts. It's much better than nursing an injury and spending the time you could have spent at the gym lying there in pain.
Today was a lot longer than I expected it to be. I also vastly underestimated my leg strength and did a lot of tweaking to make sure I was maxing out. I cant get any overload if I'm not maxing out.
Favorite: Leg Press
Not only was I able to do 3 sets of 10 reps at 350lbs, but I tested my max single rep first and I got up to 450... which made me happy. The only reason I bothered to test the single rep (since being as out of shape as I am makes such a test dangerous) is because of some Jersey Shore fucktard. He was working out on the freeweights next to me made a comment when I took weight off the machine before starting.
"hey dude, go play on something easy and come back when you can push 400"
to which I responded...
"well then how about you show me how it's done, chief"
I stacked on the 45s I had just taken off and he took a seat all cocky as shit. For the next 5 minutes he was on the verge of shitting his pants with strain... but was never able to fully extend the press. After laughing out loud a little I put a 25 on each side and sat down. I knocked out 1 clean 450 press, got up, removed back down to 350 and told him:
"looks like someone needs to hit the gym more often"
Just as a point of reference, my legs have always been the strongest of my muscles. 12 years of swimming tends to make for some well rounded and solid muscle development. As soon as he said "400" I knew I could take him. 5 years ago I was reping 400.
Reminds me of one time in college when some meathead joined the Rugby Team, and he thought he was some kind of badass on the cable machine, by loading what was clearly way too much weight on it.
Anyway he pulled the bar with the weight near maxed out, the predictable happened, the bar snapped to the floor, and he broke practically all of the metatarsal bones in both feet.
