an arbitrary "spirit, spirit2, spirit3" would probably be fine. I don't really see a way to get a truly clean naming convention with all the overlap there is.

Save the attached file as tokens.xml in the same folder as your cards.xml file and Cockatrice will grab art and populate power/toughness and text box for the following tokens:
      list

That includes all token generators in Standard. Maybe I'll go on to Modern some other time. All names are case sensitive. I redid my oracle to exclude duel decks to make sure there were no conflicts. I don't know what will happen if you don't.

Since I know some of you are dabbling in physical deckbuilding again I thought I'd point you all towards CardShark if you're looking to buy singles.

I know Star City Games is the go-to place for overwhelming volume, but Card Shark is where you're going to find some sweet bargains, plus it's largely players selling directly to other players. Lots of times I've purchased stuff from there and had people just toss in some free cards that they thought would fit with whatever deck I was building at the time.

Game vs Cid was one of the most hilarious games I've played (joke deck vs joke deck games aside).

Every time someone top decked a creature and played it, the other guy top decked some burn or removal. Picture this going on for at least 15 or so rounds.

Yeah, that was a blast. Heck, all of last night's matches with that deck were pretty entertaining for me. I particularly enjoyed the part where you stole both of my wurms.

After testing it since Friday, I'm seeing no problem with using the Dual Decks so you can still have fancy lands and the reprints.

Or the game where I spent 5 minutes working out each individual creature's Power and Toughness due to Coat of Arms and Engineered Plague interacting only for that Damnation to be dropped the turn after.

Even though I'm fairly sure it's only legal for Legacy (I was playing Standard the whole night except for that one UG Rogues deck which is Modern), it's a very fun deck to play against.

I think most of my decks are only legal in Legacy or Vintage. There's just too many cool cards scattered about to limit myself when I'm going for a theme with a deck.

The only truly abusive Legacy deck I have is the Suicide Black deck, and I've kept that shelved for a few weeks now on account of it's abusive and it is absolutely terrible in multiplayer.

You mean like that Legacy Elf deck I have that can have enough mana to get a Flying Spaghetti Monster out on turn 5?

Also Legacy can be downright abusive with some of the combos you can pull with it. Why Ponder is even legal in that format is anyone's guess. I can think of so many ways to abuse Miracle especially as a Blue Mage playing Legacy...

Might as well throw this in:

If anyone is interested in learning how to play Magic, the Duels of the Planeswalkers video games are actually designed and marketed towards people interested in trying the game.

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 on Steam

The latest edition of the game is on Steam for £9 which is about €10 or $15 (not sure how much if costs on XBox Live/PSN in the US but it's a hell of a lot more than that in the UK due to how the £ to MS Point conversion rate works out). The games have full tutorials and a bunch of pre-made decks with unlockable cards so you can have a try at deckbuilding. They also have puzzle modes for you to work out combos and strategies that could be useful in the real card game, and also a bunch of multiplayer modes (that are a bit buggy but still fun and do capture the card game well).

I think I still have a several thousand cards in a box somewhere. Man it has been a long time since I even looked at them. I think it was around 94 or 95 when I put them away. Didn't read all the post but I think I might dig out that box and take a look.

I looked up the price of DotP 2013 on Steam, and it's $10 US. After-Thanksgiving sales are coming up, so likely that price will be even lower by the end of the week.

There's a free demo available which probably contains the How To Play, if that was the primary reason one was considering buying it.

Playing the demo of the PC version from the 90s was a pretty excellent way to learn how the game worked, so I'd imagine the new stuff is also good, but now it doesn't include stuff like mana burn(hi2uManaFlareDeck). /bahhumbug

@Demon: If you got your start that early it'd definitely be worth your time to sort your collection and price it all. There's some really valuable cards from that era, and if you have them it might be a good idea to get them in sleeves/a binder rather than stuffed in a shoebox. Just some food for thought.

To be fair I'm always grateful for mana burn being gone whenever I pull out one of my Elf Decks. That G/U Modern Elf Deck I have has an infinite mana/life/tokens combo which would cause me to nuke myself for infinite damage.

I mean I wouldn't object to nuking myself for infinite damage if I was playing Goblins but still...
