To be fair, if Nicol Bolas ever actually hits the table, he does tend to be a huge pain in the butt to deal with.

Unless, of course, you were holding on to something like Oblivion Ring or Dreadbore. Which you probably were, against any deck that managed to get Bolas out.

Well excuse me for not knowing every card under the sun. People gauge things differently. I've had my fair share of wins and losses, it doesn't mean I am bad at it. Just when you're put in a situation that has your back against the wall you tend to not like the outcome, I am pretty sure you've dealt with Welfare on points like this before actually blacklisting him. But moving on, I don't see what is the big deal people have likes/dislikes of cards. Everyone has a different play style.

It's not that you don't know every card, it's that you don't have any sense for what's actually powerful. I'm not even saying you're bad at the game, just that you can't read the metagame for shit. 8 mana with some really strict color requirements alone puts it into questionable usefulness, especially without a way to cheat it into play.

I take it you haven't played much if any Legacy, because any deck trying to field Nicol Bolas is going to get stomped flat with relative ease in that format.

            Re: Magic: The Gathering

Maybe Melody plays in a very Timmy-centric metagame. There are a lot of things that are viable or even optimal in a semi-limited environment that would never fly in tournament constructed and vice versa.

In other news, I saw Quicksilver Dagger in Duel Decks: Izzet vs Golgari and got all excited about interaction with Blistercoil Weird, but then I read the fine print about duel deck reprints not actually making the cards legal in standard and acquired a sad.

Any UR standard deck I try to make is going to be pretty gimped without a complement of Delvers and Snapcasters, isn't it? The latter are ~$80 a set.

That's it Melody vs Cid. 1 on 1. My money is on Melody. Let's find a way to get this happening! I'll take bets!

I suppose that's a possibility. I mean it's not like my mono-red Walking Archive multiplayer deck would fly anywhere other than with my play group from college.

To be fair, at least in the lore, Bolas *is* the very first and most powerful plainswalker. He's not referred to as "The God Dragon" for nothing, lol. The only other guy who comes close is Sorin, who was recently printed (and actually is quite damn good).

Cid the only time I actually played in a tournament was during the Draft session at Anime Boston this year. I just play with a friend or two, he's trying to get me into FNM. Also you must not face people who use Prism decks which Bolas runs very well in might I add. My Elf deck is for destroying Enchantments/Artifacts, which is not a problem. My second deck my OTK Poison deck is what is the problem, most of my monsters die since I end up having to use them as cannon fodder to keep from being hit. Oh and I don't like flying cards. Cid we might as well say we play magic completely different since I have home rules. Your also really saying Nicol Bolas is a hard card to get out which like ANY planeswaker if you have the mana you can just pull it out easily and like I said Prismatic Decks are what he's really built for and usually Prismatic Decks are A) Usually very well built and the user knows what they're doing. B) Just plain suck. No real room for marginal error when running those types of decks since you have to know what colors your going to need to pull out whatever you looking for in your deck. I'm used to running 1 to 2 colors and if I really need to 3. Multi-color decks have a steeper learning curve for me.

For what it's worth, Wizards printed some major hate for Snapcaster in Return to Ravnica.

It's like they figured out that they messed up big time and are asking for forgiveness.

No such luck on Delver hate in particular, but at least that's technically a common, because you just plain can't beat the value of a 3/2 flyer for one mana in an Instant/Sorcery-heavy deck with a stick.

By the way, TM, Niv-Mizzet (the Firemind) and Curiosity in the same Standard? Brainstorm in the same Standard as Avacyn Restored? Freaking Life from the Loam in general? Dude, are you cra--*notices Izzet symbol*--wait, never mind.
