Ah right that one. I have to show you my Dimir Deck some time. I got YM to ragequit one game due to it destroying his draw engine. Sadly I was victim to RNG in the other games . The deck has more than enough mana but I went one game having ony drawn 2 lands...

I had a red boardwipe deck back in the day.

Was really irritating and my friends forced me to stop using it, lol - I love that about Red (and Red/Blue) - making decks that don't really win, just screw with everyone else as much as possible.

Like my old Jhoira deck that basically just suspended everything like Obliterate & Upheaval while constantly "countering" spells with Delay - never actually stopping them, just putting them off endlessly. Has a funny way of messing with people's heads.

And then there was my old Russian Roulette deck, which I'm sorely tempted to remake. It basically combos Thieves' Auction with Phage, The Untouchable for MP hilarity.

Red is pretty much the perfect color for just messing with people in a multi-player game. Back in college I threw together a terribly amusing mono Red deck that centered around Amok and Walking Archive with just a whole bunch of random annoying junk thrown in. Everyone would be drawing out their kill conditions, one would go off and suddenly I'd Shunt it towards someone else even if it wasn't aimed at me. They'd finally put a whole bunch of things on the board the moment Planar Chaos left the field, and then I'd follow it up with a Thieves' Auction and we'd spend the next twenty minutes figuring out who had what cards under their control. I'm pretty sure I never won with that deck, but it was tons of fun to play with.

That'd be the general idea, yeah.

My Jhoira deck actually was quite capable of winning, however - and it only got infinitely more annoying after I added Teferi to it (probably the still the single most OP blue legendary ever).

I have a Jhoria Deck that I lovingly named "Jhoria Bullshit" that Taskmage can tell you all about. I used it in one FFA game with him and I think Cid and he played Blue Braids. I had It that Betrays and Edrakul in my hand...

I think TM's reaction to seeing both on the board was "Do you have too many friends or something?". The rest of that Skype chat was hilarious too.

You guys are building mono-red annoyance without Thieves' Auction? I am disappoint.

Got back from the prerelease a while ago, which the LGS does as four rounds of Swiss with no cut to top 8. 4-0 gets 12 booster packs as a prize, 3-0-1 gets 8, and 3-1 gets 4. I went 3-1 with a RG burn/aggro deck, since my only "bombs" (read: decent Rares) were in Red . . . plus, what else are you going to do with Chandra's Phoenix, Young Pyromancer, and three copies of Chandra's Outrage (plus a Shock)?

I only got one Mythic the whole day, and it was from my prize pool . . . Darksteel Forge. (Hopefully it'll at least still trade well among Commander players by next week.)

Didn't we have one of TM's decks copy my White Sun's Zenith 3 times and so we ended up with about 40-60 cats on the board? I know for a fact that that took about 20 minutes to sort out.

So, Theros is going to be an enchantment-themed block (called it :D) with more legendaries - not as many as Kamigawa, but still more than usual. 3 planeswalkers (Elspeth and 2 new ones) and 3 new card types; Gods, Heroes and Monsters. Can't wait for the official previews to start.

                        Also, it seems they are ending Extended Format;

Naya Humans update: I'm getting quite annoyed at not getting any more than four wins at a time lately. This is particularly bothersome, since the people there are starting to recognize me and know what to expect when playing me, and are already starting to adapt accordingly. Seems you can't afford to lose more than once to make it to Top 8 here, since there are too many players (about 60-ish) and too few rounds of Swiss (six).

Naturally, after legitimately being outplayed by Jund in Round 3 (getting blown out by hard-cast Bonfire for X=2 Game 1), my luck would of course later give me the worst draws two games in a row against a Rites player (which is usually a somewhat favorable matchup for me--I just race them before they can play their bombs).

To be fair, I did learn something from the Jund matchup--Jund Midrange decks want to turn the game into a war of attrition, hitting you with 1-for-1 after 1-for-1, before eventually simply landing multiple bigger threats on the board. This I already know, but what the match made me aware of was that, with M14, one can more easily hit a sort of critical mass of spot removal (to say nothing of Bonfire for 2+). So, since I can't do much more than simply adapt my own deck over time (who can afford to do more than maintain one Standard deck at a time, anyway?), I figure that adapting is exactly what I'm going to do. I'll be introducing four copies of Ranger's Guile in my 75, including two main deck. Incidentally, this will make it the only two non-Creature (or even non-Human) spells in the main deck, but I figure that maintaining my already explosive board presence with just a single Green mana would easily be worth the exchange.

                                Eve-before-Naya-Humans'-last-hurrah update:

Since my last update I've moved to a smaller town, with a smaller (but still surprisingly respectable) LGS. I'm still getting acquainted with faces there (never mind names), but I think I'm going to like it here. (For one I actually get to go out and do bona-fide FNMs--although it does set me back $5/wk.)

I've had varying success so far, but mostly on the successful side! Nobody here seems to like the top decks in Standard right now. XD I've been left to mop most of the rest with what is now a solidly second-rate deck. I even managed to split Top 4 in what was arguably my most successful night in Magic (though the AVR prerelease probably beats it). Last week I had a successful run that was stopped after a very intense Game 2 against an "Aristocrats, Act 2" deck. (I'm going to miss those Aristocrats decks from the current Standard, just because of their names.)

Unfortunately, post-rotation Standard is looking to suck hard (unless you like seeing Green everywhere). I am cobbling together a mono-Red burn deck, just for messing around at events like Game Day and whatnot, but it's not something I can take seriously right now.
