Thragtusk is the kind of bullshit that survives long after it leaves Standard. It's basically a card that should not have been printed.

I honestly don't feel one way or another about Thragtusk, other than that it is (perhaps objectively) overplayed.

Then again, some Magic players are all "Wait, this a Creature card, with lifegain, that's actually good?" Hellfire raining from the skies, cats and dogs living together, that sorta thing. In essence, overreacting to the fact that, yes, it's a good Creature with lifegain. Make like the rest of Standard and deal with it.

On the other hand, Snapcaster Mage and Restoration Angel half the Angels in Magic: the Gathering? Those should have never been printed.

Yeah I'm personally just glad Thragtusk wasn't around back during Onslaught block when Beast Tribal was a very real, scary thing.

Goddamn I miss onslaught block... Goblin Piledriver & Sharpshooter.

Really? Of all the myriad Goblins out there to hate, you chose the one specifically designed to combat Psychatog (who was clearly a much bigger problem card)?

              Yes.

As an avid goblin enthusiast, I think Goblin Piledriver is bad for goblins.

                Piledriver.

He's one of the most OP Goblins ever printed (alongside Kiki-jiki the Mirror Breaker & Siege-Gang Commander) but I still luvs 'em

Goblins were my favorite thing ever during Onslaught Block (Soldiers were a close 2nd).

Goblin Spy is ten times the goblin Goblin Piledriver could ever hope to be.

So, you hate Goblin Piledriver so much just because he's good at his intended job?

                    On another note:

@6 minutes, on the right is (metaphorically) me, and on the left is the kind of Magic player I just can't understand. You know, the kind who clings to their bad Esper control deck whose only win condition is a singleton Nephalia Drownyard. The kind I explained was overreacting to Thragtusk here. You know, that kind.

                      Eh, not really.

Knowing what card you have coming up is nice, but your opponent can see it too - not quite the same as those other ones that let you also play it/give a bonus effect based on what it is. Not saying it's not a strong effect, but I'm really questioning your judgment here as Goblins are all about sligh.

The full spoiler's up now on MTG Salvation.

Some really good stuff, I can't believe they reprinted Traumatize omg... Hello Dimir Deck!

EDIT: WHAT THE SHIT, THEY REPRINTED DIABOLIC TUTOR?!?!?!?

I thought that got banned from Standard?! Wow and it's uncommon to boot...

It was uncommon back in Odyssey too, so it's not all that surprising.

The way they keep ramping up the power level I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Demonic Tutor reprinted at some point.

Well, they did reprint Lightning Bolt back in 12th I think it was?

There's a number of underwhelming cards in there as usual, some questionable reprints (again, Dimir is jizzing its pants over Tutor and Traumatize dear lord...) and some pretty freaking awesome new stuff, like the hydras and slivers.

I'm a little surprised that everyone at MTG Salvation (though there's a lot of idiots there too who are spoiled by recent power creep) was crapping all over the reprint of Opportunity.

OK sure, it's not Sphinx's Revelation, but it's not horrid either - keep in mind while Theros will have a new set of dual lands, they're going to start easing off a bit as right now between Ravnica and Innistrad mana-fixing is too easy. Plus what if you're not planning on running white? 3 cards at instant speed is still damned powerful.

On the other hand if we're talking full on Legacy I could just say it won't ever hit the field because it's not Blue and have a good chance of being correct regardless of which card I'm referring to.
It was always funny when I pulled out my own Black deck in MP games and it usually ended up in board wipe arms races.. It got to the point where even I was begging everyone to maybe stop with board wipes every other turn XD

Funnily enough Blue is kind of bad on its own in FFA. Black on the other hand...Yeah.

No you're thinking of my board wipe deck. Yellowmage is talking about the one where my opening play would be: swamp, dark rit, dark rit, durress, hymn to tourach, hymn to tourach, laugh as opponent rage quits.

But yeah, board wipe deck was way more fun, especially in multiplayer.
