Is that damage being dealt specifically by Scourge of Valkas, or by whichever dragon is entering the field? The wording on that could stand to be improved.

The dragon entering the field does the damage.

It's passable, but I think it's a tad ambiguous. It would not surprise me if there's someone out there who argues the point with a judge at some point(assuming it ends up being remotely viable in competitive play).

Standard templating would have it say "that creature deals X damage" as with Flayer of the Hatebound, which is much more clear, but they probably had to bend the rules to get the text to fit on the card. Ordinarily if it were Scourge of Valkas doing the damage every time, they would specify as with Tajuru Archer.

Uh... so what? It's a shitty 3/1 for 3CC. It's not a terrible card by any stretch of the imagination, but anything that curtails the stupidity known as Tarmogoyf is to be applauded IMO.

It's an aggressive stick with evasion, trades with Thragtusk if it's on the field, and can outright remove big threats. This guy's gonna see tournament play for sure.

It's gonna be pretty awful outside of Standard. I'd say it's sideboard material at best.

Standard's all I personally care about though, much as I love some of the older stuff like Ninjas & Arcbound (well, Modular was the mechanic).

That deck actually fell apart more often than not. It's just that when it worked it was the most annoying goddamn thing ever to play against.

On the other hand if we're talking full on Legacy I could just say it won't ever hit the field because it's not Blue and have a good chance of being correct regardless of which card I'm referring to.

In standard, sure. In any other format? Probably not.

I don't even get the hate for Thragtusk. It's splashable but 5CC. Probably should have been 3GG instead of 4G, but whatever...

It's got just enough power to trade with a Thragtusk, which is one of the best creatures in Standard atm.

A lot of people are sick of it and can't wait to see the bugger rotate out.
