Possibly, but then MTGO is a crock of shit anyway.

Upper Deck didn't seem to be hurt that badly by the various Yugioh Games on GBA etc.

I somehow doubt that. Sales would go down certainly, but there's always going to be some demand for a physical product. I still think a game at a physical table is better than a digital one purely because it's more satisfying to waggle my eyebrows at my opponents in a knowing fashion that says "I have a fist full of Lightning Bolts, do you really want to do that?" That's not something I can do in a digital medium. I also think that purchasing a physical product depends largely on whether or not the player has a local group to play with on a regular basis. I bought a ton of cards in college when I had folks to play with in the computer lab every day, but after I graduated and we all went our separate ways I didn't have a local group so I had no reason to keep buying stuff.

Fair enough, but certainly nobody would ever buy digital cards.

Of course not. Buying digital cards is silly.

Of course it's more satisfying, some of my best times in highschool were playing MTG with all my buddies FFA style. But guess what, can't really do that anymore, nor can I justify spending the kind of money I used to on that hobby. That's why I like the digital releases, to play with others online etc. I'm totally fine with buying a good MTG game, I just don't want to do something like MTGO where I'm essentially buying cards like I normally would with the caveat that they're only good online.

            Screw that.

I wouldn't have a problem buying digital cards if I knew several people who played online regularly. ... And if there wasn't a perfectly serviceable alternative for free, of course.

From my brief time dabbling in MTGO, I recall it being inferior to Cockatrice, or at least more needlessly convoluted.

MTGO actually enforces the rules and processes effects, though. Which I would demand if I spent a lot of time playing with strangers or doing drafts and such for "real" product.

I probably should have said "That's how it works in MTGO" when I had that rules dispute at the tourney.

Do want. Slivers in the core set, and they're humanoid... stop tempting me WotC >_<

Slivers will always look one way to me, but I'll still love them with different art.

I can't fathom why they would try to make them humanoid. I figure a large chunk of their appeal comes from the fact that they're so alien.

I get it. It's hard to make something that alien expressive and evocative. But oh wells, that's what slivers look like. Headcanon remains unchanged.

It tested well with people who don't know what Slivers are. That's literally the only fathomable explanation.

(As for them being strictly superior versions, the fact that they cause less board complexity is the only fathomable explanation to why they decided to go with that.)

Anybody up for some Magic this week? I haven't touched Cockatrice in months. There's a workaround server in place so we can still play Magic with it, right? Any idea if Gatecrash and Dragon's Maze cards get added to its Oracle?
