Re: Magic: The Gathering
I wasn't denying that at any point and that was implied anyway when I described Multiplayer as a marathon. What I have been trying to say is that the habits of everyone here to remove a creature the second it pops up, even if it is going to get sent at another player is something that makes me facepalm since:
I'm not trying to say "everyone is doing it wrong", "you can't use X, Y or Z deck" or sound like I'm trying to complain here, I'm just voicing why you haven't really been seeing me on Cockatrice that much.
Also I've wanted to point out why removing a threatening creature right away isn't always the best idea until it has actually been turned against you directly. Let it stomp on someone else's life total first, nuking it instantly means one opponent hate you and the person in the strongest position on the board get one more turn of setting up his win con or beating another person down (who will hate you for removing the original creature which would have prevented the beatdown).
Like I said, I'm not complaining, just voicing concerns (like with the D&D thread).

- Multiplayer games are long enough as it is. I remember us having a 3 hour multiplayer game because nobody could play a thing without someone else removing it either instantly or at sorcery speed and nobody was carrying burn spells.
- It overcentralises the metagame of our little group. Every single multiplayer deck NEEDS to either work without creatures or be completely centred around making creature removal a bad idea. There's no such thing as making a deck "For fun" now or trying to get something interesting or different (This is also similar to why I can't stand playing in Standard at all: There's very little deck build flexibility to make it fun for me personally).
