I've got so many decks lol (I love to kill time just deck building on cockatrice) but so far I'm LOVING my Rakdos deck so much, omg.
I dismantled my old boros deck, partly because Sacred Foundry isn't back in standard yet but also 'cause waiting to see new stuffs. So far I'm loving the Dimir & Orzhov, Ghost Dad 2.0 is absolutely bonkers. I'm convinced MaRo is on 'shrooms again. Boros has been extremely underwhelming thus far. Sweet artwork, a very flavorful mechanic, but ultimately underwhelming - especially the 1 mana Batallion. If he buffed EVERYONE and not just himself then he'd be pro. Same with the firemane avenger, it's just too damn late into the game and on a 3/3? I'd rather have a 1 or 2 mana with helix on it or better yet, JUST REPRINT THE DAMN HELIX!
Still holding out for a Bob reprint. Dimir hasn't disappointed thus far with a single card - ok maybe the 1st cipher preview but only because the spell itself was meh - I love cipher as a mechanic and thus far Dimir aggro milling is looking like a very strong thing. Now if only they reprint traumatize... (or Hedron Crab).
Yeah so I'm pretty much sold on Dimir now. Their guild mage just got spoiled and holy crap is his 1st ability ever ridiculous.
"1UB: Whenever a card is put into an opponent's graveyard from anywhere this turn, that player loses 1 life."
By far, the most batshit ability of all the new guildmages thus far. Basically turns Jace into an automatic win if you got 6 mana, and synergizes with pretty much everything else dimir. Hilarious response to a Sudden Verdict as well (and will probably make you an automatic shit magnet in EDH). LOVE the new Dimir. I liked them before, but I honestly found them to be weak. This go around they're using Mill as a resource and not just a strategy; Mill to deal damage, mill to pump your critters etc.
I'm still holding out hope for Boros, but I'm not liking what I've seen so far. It's seriously looking like Dimir or Orzhov for best guild this go around - that Vindicate Cleric for WB is completely OP.
Yeah I've always liked Dimir, Black cards go well with my Blue Magery. I do have a huge soft spot for Izzet too even if playing it in multiplayer games tends to get you murdered the second you think of getting off your combo.
Though to be fair given how obsessed everyone is with instantly removing any sort of creature in FFA without even considering if the creature is going to be a direct threat to them, Combo is the only deck style worth playing in our group's FFA Meta.
The amount of times I've seen someone remove a big stompy creature the second it pops up without letting it stomp over their opponents first, THEN removing it when it gets sent at them is facepalm worthy.
So yet another bombshell was dropped in the form of Crypt Ghast... I'd post the image but lately every time I try to post one, I either get an error saying it's the wrong file type (seriously wtf?) or that it's too big.
2/2 Black Spirit for 3B: Has Exort and "Whenever you tap a swamp for mana, add B to your (in addition to the mana the land produces.)
There are a lot of seriously ridiculous rares in this set, dear Lord. Gideon 2.0 is f'ing nuts too but goddamn, this guy is going to absolutely break my demon deck;
T1: Swamp/Bloodcrypt
T2: Swamp, Heartless Summoning
T3: Swamp, Crypt Ghast, then either hold mana back for Ultimate Price or drop a Desecration Demon
T4: Swamp/Crypt (if it wasn't out already), Rakdos' Return for 6 & win as opponent loses all tempo.
He'll be nasty in Dimir too, leaving a lot more mana free for control magic or milling. Black in general is getting a loooooot of power creep this set what the crap honestly.
To be fair, all of my removal is sorcery speed so I can't really take the chance.
The thing is nobody stops to think why that big stompy monster was played. If something is played it is removed. Not calling you out personally on it because I've seen everyone do it except for maybe Task Mage. That 7/7 Dragon may be scary but if you have ways to removal, then why not just let it stay there unless it threatens you directly? I've seen games drag on for way too long because people have creature paranoia and basically refuse to let others to their work for them. I mean why removal that big scary 7/7 dragon that TM summoned and will attack after your turn when say I'm at 5 life and about to draw my Win Con and Yyg is at 7 and tapped out?
Like I said, not criticising just you for it because everyone has done it at some point (myself included). It's just while I don't hate Creatureless Decks, Combo is pretty fun, and Burn is fun the sheer amount of removal everyone keeps bringing to remove anything and everything that is summoned bogs down games, and does make them a bit boring after a while when it's "Oh I went to test out a creature deck, but people only make decks that stack burn or removal so Creatureless it is (again)!" Either that or stuff that makes removal a bad idea.
Taking out 4-5 other players by turn 5 is impossible without lucking out and drawing something like a Splinter Twin Combo in your opening hand FYI.
It's why multiplayer decks are slow. Fast decks tend to take out one player then run out of steam and never truly recover. Multiplayer is a marathon, not a sprint.
