Perhaps so, but Nice Peter makes a good point, our leaders lack commitment and follow-through. The thing about legends is we elevate their ideal beyond what was humanly possible because we want people to have something to aspire to.
I'm sure we could find some dirt on Martain Luther King Jr. if we really wanted to, but the thing about martyrdom is once you've died as a result of the path you were committed to, you have become the ideal and an unseatable legend. Does anyone really want to live with that expectation placed on them?
Does anyone look at the Kennedy years?
