Melody's Melodramatic Meltdown on Mitt Romney (Tounge Twister?)
A vote for asparagus is a vote against despairagus.
Obama has enough of a lead, and there's still not a lot of awareness about third parties. I wouldn't worry about being the one guy who could've saved the state from Romney but "wasted" his vote instead.
I take it you're voting for the Green party candidate?
So sad for the GOP that this was their best guy out of a field of like a dozen candidates (RP of course excepted) and he's getting steamrolled. Here's hoping this wakes them up and they abandon their extremist insanity and start being a respectable party. Not hoping a lot, but hoping.
This is actually precisely what has me hoping that the GOP collapses on itself and takes the two-party system as we know it with it. The GOP already had a chance to save itself by putting up someone like Paul and adopting a libertarian platform, but they seem to be embarking on all sorts of paths of self-destruction.
If we as a nation can make Mitt Romney come in third, imagine how amazing that would be? Imagine the mainstream media, fumbling with itself as it continues to fail to adapt to the changing times. Imagine people taking a stand and giving the two-party system a collective middle finger, saying that we don't won't to take any of its crap anymore? All parties involved will be required to adapt to the changing atmosphere or become a relic of the past.
Of course, historically, when times have changed, the two-party system adapted accordingly. Things are looking just rigid enough to break now, though, if we can just bend it enough.

Re: Melody's Melodramatic Meltdown on Mitt Romney (Tounge Twister?)
I apologize ... I should clarify.
"Income inequality is bad for society" is in regards to a collective system. In other words, if you're trying to govern a body of people, but working in the best interest of a whole, then everyone needs to be on equal footing.
When a certain number of people hold an overwhelming majority of wealth, power and influence, then you're dealing with a system that doesn't advocate the collective interest but self interests or the interest of a minority.
I think you were asking whether or not there was a time in our history where there wasn't income inequality. Yes, there was, but there was also a different kind of inequality that would run in its place. For example, a religious society where there is a "spirituality" inequality or a society built on "social inequality" in the context of a caste system or a system built by slavery.
Given the context of this discussion, I highly doubt any Western country could be run with religion alone and I highly doubt any Western country would willingly go back to a system of caste/slavery. So the issue here is whether or not income inequality is good for these societies. And again, I will answer, "it depends on what kind of society you want". If you wish for a collective society, no, income inequality is bad. If you wish for a society of self-interests, special-interests or a kind of plutocracy, those that would wield such power, wealth or control will tell you, "yes", income inequality is good.
Re: Melody's Melodramatic Meltdown on Mitt Romney (Tounge Twister?)
Left wingers, tree huggers, and liberals suck. If you want something, work hard for it, don't suck on the teet of the government and ask me to pay for it. GTFO. I work hard for my money and I deserve the fruits of my labor. You want your own nice fruit, get a damn job. If you can't get a job, it means you're not qualified for one, work harder and maybe someone will hire you.
Yeah, those damn hippies wanting free government roads and stuff. Pave that shit yourself. Right Mezlo?
Then tell them they didn't build it and the when they're out of a job again that they're all lazy bums.
I'll believe the "work hard and apply yourself" ethos conservatives spew when it ceases to mean "know the right people and kiss ass often" because THAT is the environment baby boomers left us with and within it, college educations combined with or superseded by actual talent have become threatening to those who watched their 401ks evaporate and are trying to postpone the lifestyle they've been content to leave everyone under 40 with.
When you're the peson that believes in working hard, applying yourself and believes in free market solutions, you can still get cynical when you're only as good as or good for what your last job was. Meanwhile people who need jobs have to leave out their college educations just to get anything because your college education is a strike against you if you're applying to a grocery store just to get by. They think you'll leave once something better comes.
Then there's temp agencies... which as a concept should just be abolished because cheap labor is kind of hard to compete with. You can just be given minimum wage all the time, be disposed of without notice and sometimes promised a full-time job you'll never be given. It brings the full-timer's worth down, the value or a resume and education down.
It's a perfect example. Government exists to help its citizens in a variety of ways.
Correct. And building roads is not the issue Republicans have with the way the Obama administration has been spending our tax dollars. Again, bad example.

Yeah because who needs infrastructure, emergency response services, libraries, or schools. Or quality healthcare that won't bankrupt you if you get sick. Or clean air and labor laws, or civil rights... yeah, us left-leaning folk are just a plague on society with absolutely no work ethic.
Good lord, do you have a shrine dedicated to Ann Coulter or some shit?
