Re: This is why Canada > America

    For reference.

I've never understood this mentality myself. My family always had a problem when I would cheer for the Padres when I was "supposed" to be cheering for the Braves because they were closer to where I lived. I just like rooting for the underdog, I never gave a damn about what state they were in. North Carolina does not owe Atlanta, Georgia baseball loyalty just because we don't have an MLB team.

Plenty of you (especially the politicians, hell even some members of my own family) still go on every day about how you're God's gift to the world.

I'm not mad/jealous/whatever, btw, just making a point is all.

Wait, who on this forum is a U.S. politician? Did I miss something or is Mal just being a raving lunatic as usual?

No, you are mad and mad at the wrong people.

You're running around with the baby boomer conservative definition of American exceptionalism. Exceptionalism is more about just wanting to leave a better future for those that follow you than it is about "how great I am" so the boomers only get it half-right. Every nation can strive for the former, its just America has a history of being the first one up at bat in many regards and now we're falling away from it - thats kind of sad. I personally do not want to see less of it, though I could do without the warmongering, drone strikes and NDAA type stuff that continues to go forward no matter who is president.

I do believe in a strong defense and having troops out there to help other nations, but its just done without much context these days.

Why should we celebrate any nation falling away from excpetionalism? I find your attitude to be incredibly fucked up in that regard.

Sure there are plenty of places America went wrong, can't change the past though. You think I'd don't know it? I have Cherokee in my blood man. I know.

              Personally I think all you people should get off my land >.>;

Re: This is why Canada > America

My point, was that both countries poke fun at each other for one reason or another, and that it would probably do a world of good if (I'd say half the country roughly? Largely right wingers) people would realize you're not the best at everything. Specifically, it'd go a lot of good if the politicians would stop and look at what the rest of the world has done right and use that as inspiration instead of continually insisting that it's everyone else who's got it all wrong. America went from having the highest graduation rates to freaking 37th in math and 28th in science (roughly, I don't have the exact numbers on hand but it's not good).

Like when I was visiting my relatives last fall explaining how our health care system works here, some of them were pretty shocked that it wasn't the like the horrible bullshit govt-run nightmare that some people would have them believe. I wouldn't bother if I didn't actually give a shit about wellbeing of the U.S. (wish I could say the same about some people I know...)

Re: This is why Canada > America

ITT Mal said too much of what was on his mind and he ended up getting into trouble. XD

As for the US falling it's just the result of the system it was built upon. It was just not sustainable, specially after the Petrodollar scam happened more than 3 decades ago. But then it may not have been intended to last, the globalists, politicians or whichever you like that made the decision knew this was going to be a very finite thing. So I'm guessing either the US kicks the Corporations out of the Government and detoxes from all the debt and overspending or it starts nuking around to steal as much as possible from other countries. Sadly it seems Mexico is one of the next targets since the US is no longer willing to pay the Mexican cartels for passage of drugs, so the only way to solve it is invasion if the PRI Government can't suppress resistance after the fake elections here and somehow manages to dispose of the cartels so the US and Colombia can pass drugs without the cartel tax.

As for the superiority complex it can work in 2 different ways, it can make you work harder to keep ahead like the US from the past, or it can make you complacent because you think all the good stuff will last forever like it seems it happened after the petro-boom and the debt it enabled.

I have no idea where things are going to go, but while the US used to be the main player now it's looking like it's just a piece on a bigger puzzle.

That drawing would've been very relevant in about 1785. Now the ages are about 35 too young across the board-- America should be starting to age and lose it's vitality, and Britain should be a decrepit old codger.
