ACA is incredibly flawed.

Replacing it with nothing would've been even worse, though.

It's a small step forward, but we could do with replacing it with something better.

If you are that poor, there will be programs to join at discounted rates. If you're just a young person who feels like they're invincible, you have to get health insurance.

Because if they can tell us to buy insurance by mandate it begs the question of "What can't they make us buy/do?"

States rights just got tossed out the window. This mandate has already made premiums worse, many doctors retired the day that bill passed, the law has been debunked and deemed unsustainable by the math itself. It's also important to note it was passed by a majority that also stalled for years on a federal budget, which still hasn't really been settled because the now-minority half of congress is still stalling.

These are not he people I want to be trusting my health to, they are lying when they say I will still be able to keep my insurance. This law is layered in tax penalties that will make small businesses - where the most jobs are created - drop insurance entirely because they have the most to lose from this. It might even make people reconsider starting a business, which is AWESOME for the economy. People will have to enroll in federal health insurance then, they've go no where else to go.

There is nothing redeeming about this law.

It's always fun to see people running around like headless chickens yelling "THE COMMIES ARE COMING! THE COMMIES ARE COMING!!!" while they hug the weapons they don't have the courage to use when the real threats appear right in front of them.

But as sad and as bad as this will sound the more screwed up the US gets the easier it will be for countries like mine to break free from their influence. The US had a chance to make the first sustainable Empire in human history and they blew it. And now it seems it's time for Big Brother to take loving care of "the people".

Better question is how is this not socialism. If I'm paying for your healthcare as much as my is by way of taxes, how do I not get a say in how you live? It's already pretty amoral that people want abortion to be covered (and make no mistake if it's not it will be) when there are people that feel strongly against it? What about obesity? Or a sex-change?

I'm being serious, whats covered and what's not and why?

What's the limit? Who gets to decide these things? With the original system moral quandaries and opinions don't matter as you have a choice, but if you're funneled into a federal system you might not.

I grew up having brain surgery three times. With the system as it was before, I was able to be treated within weeks of the cyst being spotted, but had it been a socialized system it might have been months and by then the cyst could have grown to where it did serious irreparable damage to my sight, my equilibrium, emotional and logical reasoning. Or I might have just died.

I've got more reasons than I can count to not trust the government on things even less sensitive than that. Going under the knife on thier dime? Fuck no.
