Seventies disco queen Donna Summer has died at age 63, her publicist said Thursday.
Summer rose to pop music fame starting in 1975 with "Love to Love You Baby." She went on to record other songs that proved popular on the dance scene, including "Bad Girls" and "She Works Hard for the Money."

I actually looked up a number of her songs and do recognise quite a few of them. A lot of them have been covered by artists, singers and glorified karaoke singers over the years. At first I was rolling my eyes due to being sick of hearing about a Z list celebrity so much as sneezing in the news, but it's a shame to hear that anyone died regardless of who they are.

No it's not. People die all the time. Constantly. Right now. Seriously, as you've been reading this several people have all dropped dead.

This isn't some horrible tragedy, it's a normal part of life. It should only hold significance if the person in question was known to you and had some connection to your life, either directly or indirectly.

I'm tired of hearing about "celebrities" dropping dead and everyone expecting me to care about these people who I didn't even know existed until they croaked and made the evening news.

I'm old enough to know Donna Summers but not old enough to have knowledge of all of her works as an artist. And it's not people are clueless ... they just reflect their own age in their responses here. I'm sure 20 years from now if news comes to pass that Shigeru Miyamoto passed away, you'll probably get the same kinds of responses ... "who dat?" "why should I care?"
