    Re: North Carolina Amendment One

I think the problem with Skyrim marriage is really just how the bar is set.

Aela - you fight alongside her, shared her blood to become a Companion and released her leader from his curse allowing him to enter the afterlife.

Ysolda - Traded her a mammoth tusk you found.

One has intimacy (if strange, seeing as she's a werewolf), a journey and trials to overcome, the other a rather simple transaction. Both will marry you if you do these things.

While I question a lack of sexual preference in the game as well, that design choice boils down to "Fuck it, too many NPCs here to reasonably define where they all lean."

Persona thinks it best to just have a fleshed out character in the main cast, romanceable or not and have thier matters presented. I think that's better as there are many romantic options outside the main cast, though P2 had a gay option (but that was before the Social Link/Calander system complicated things). Mass Effect has defined preferences, which makes sense as the games are so character focused.

It does seem to boil down to design. Since there's so much to do/see in Skyrim and it's more about that than who you sleep with, they just leave it open and everyone is inherently bi by design. I think it works for Skyrim, but would be a little strange if every game went that open-ended with it. Sexual identity is part of what we are, not everyone were attracted to reciprocates, differences and challenge makes for interesting characters, blah, blah, blah.

Also since dragons are a little like demons (in Nordic Lore anyway), they're ignoring the fact that you are killing demons to adsorb their essence and gain power.
