*sigh* I'm sad. Monday is my last session with my PT, and I just don't have the money to continue going with him. Really sucks, as he's helped me get some awesome results far faster than I would have on my own. Guess I'll just have to push myself extra hard. Tried to bench press 105 today, couldn't do it ><
Still at 85 :/ (Bar's about 45 + 2 10's on each side)

What kind of lifts does he have you doing? When increasing weight, I found 5x5 to be more helpful than the 8x3 that I would typically do. Performing more sets gives you more opportunity to fine tune the weight and increase as incrementally as you possibly can. Lower repetitions makes it easier to hit the higher weights, but might require a longer rest between sets before you can do it again.
Well, almost three years ago I was 310 pounds. Now I'm down to 220ish. The current wardrobe is starting to look a bit too baggy, like I'm some kid wearing his dad's clothes.
I'm still about 40 pounds from where I should probably average. I didn't do anything too remarkable to even get here. I just cut out soda mostly and walked a lot. Five miles about every other day, though I have pushed tup to 12 on other days. I could actually walk to Gamestop or the mall now if I really wanted to, the high traffic area on the way just gets me a tad nervous. Plus 2.5 miles in there really isn't a consistent sidewalk to use. Its like they stopped caring after when my street hit a major intersection.
3 years ago I was ~220 lbs. I started with just running a couple times a week. Gradually made better and better changes with my diet and such. This last year has been the biggest drop. I'm down to 180 now and am actually feeling like I'm a little too thin (I'm 6'5"). Decided I'm gonna start going to work out some with my roommate, hoping I can put on about 10 lbs of muscle. I figure its the healthier option between it and just eating shitty food all day everyday again. Between cutting out 90% of the junk food and sodas and quitting smoking I'm feeling 1000x better.
Way to go, both of you, that shit certainly isn't easy, glad you've both stuck with it.

You guys are making me feel like a slacker. I plateaued pretty hard. Although I suppose that's better than regressing. The only thing I've really changed up lately is my route to work since I'm in a new office now. The walk's shorter now and involves hopping on the subway and the only way I've found to offset that is to take the stairs to reach my office on the 14th floor.
Gotta keep pushing yourself. I try to change up my warm ups too, depending on what sort of exercise I intend to do for that day.
Like on leg day I use the Cybex machine (like an advanced elliptical) and I've gotten to the point where I can handle about 50 resistance. It's sheer murder on my legs so I can only do it for 4~5 min tops, but the pay off's worth it. I try to add another 5 resistance every week or so. If you don't gradually ratchet up the difficulty, you won't see improvements.
Haven't been on the treadmill in a while now though. Not particularly fond of it either what with my asthma and all (plus I like having functioning knees...) but I'll probably hit it up tomorrow for Cardio/Core day. Haven't done any lunges in a while either >_<
The main thing is discipline. If I don't go one day, I go the next - as long as I'm going at least 3 times a week and never away from the gym for more than 2 days, I'm good. And diet. I try not to miss more than a day (usually weekends) without my smoothies, they're critical to keeping up my health and giving me the energy for each workout. Not a big fan of protein shakes, I much prefer my smoothies.
Cid, I'm right there with you, but I never lost anything. I was working out steadily for a while but I haven't lost more than a couple of pounds total, so I figure if I'm not going to even lose weight from working out I might as well just not work out.
Nah, if you stop working out you just start gaining instead. I'm still pretty pleased with myself for not sliding backwards and gaining all the weight back. Sustainability has been a large part of my approach to this. I figure it's no use to go all out and then burn out and fall into old habits and waistlines again, so making even modest progress and holding onto that is a hundred times better in the long run.
After you've started doing it, be sure and tell everyone you meet. Preferably in the first 30 seconds of the conversation, and always just shove it in regardless of what the topic of conversation is.
Oh and post on Facebook every morning when you're headed in and post after talking about how difficult the WOD is and how good you feel now.
