        I had that kind of metabolism in high school. I'd pig out on two value meals worth of Jack In The Box on a regular basis, drink tons of soda, and consume mostly greasy frozen food, and I'd still stay scrawny as a rail. 15 years later, not so much.

          ^ that's precisely what I'm afraid of; I don't know how long it'll keep up, and I'd rather not abuse it to the point of no return. Between my brother and I we lucked out on a few things genetically I suppose (makes up for the shit lives we got somewhat) like, he's nearly 10 years older than me but he still gets carded for smokes fairly often; Dad's side has a pretty clean family history too (just gotta watch the cholesterol which isn't that hard unless you're allergic to nuts.)

          Ugh, I'm still in a world of pain though from Tuesday's work out - can barely lift anything, I'm pretty sure I overdid it. It's weird because while my arms were sore during the training, I really didn't feel all that bad afterwards; Hell I even went biking after I got home. It wasn't until yesterday that the pain really started to set in.

            My fiancée twisted my arm into signing up for an aerobic/dance class. There are no other men, let alone foreigners. The stares, they burn.

            Also, made the mistake of wearing a white shirt with nothing to change into afterwards. So much white moob nipple.

                I saw my weight spike down to 177 this morning. It's kind of amazing to me what I've been able to accomplish with a modicum of exercise and some slight changes to my diet.

                My family has always had a thing for food. I think it's how they show love or something, because folks on my Dad's side of the family are always trying to feed people. I distinctly remember Mom telling me about how when we went to my Grandmother's she'd have dinner ready and waiting for us when we got there and then before we'd even finished serving ourselves she'd be asking us if we wanted seconds. My Dad's kind of the same way. He has trouble not making too much food. There were a lot of pancake breakfasts in the day where I'd be unable to finish the last one or two pancakes on my plate because I was too stuffed. It's been a running theme over the years. My family feeds people and doesn't know how to make healthy portion sizes.

                Recently I've been trying to fix that on my end. Over the years I've grown accustomed to eating way more than I should, even if it's healthy food. So I've started taking notice of when that happens. In the middle of a meal I sometimes get a "full" sensation, at which point I realize I should probably stop eating, whereas before that never inhibited me because there was still food on the plate.

                So yeah, smaller portion sizes, more vegetable heavy dishes and just cutting back on snacking has helped.

                One other thing is I've recently started attempting pull ups. My walk home from work takes me through a park where there's a playground, so I've taken to stopping in occasionally and trying to do some pull ups on the monkey bars. So far it's been an abject failure and all I can do is start fully up and slowly lower myself down. On the other hand, I don't think I've ever been able to do a pull up in my entire life so I've got to start somewhere and even that is producing a familiar pain. It means it's working, so I figure a few weeks of that and I'll eventually get up to the point where I can start doing an actual pull up or two.

                I'm still a bit skittish when there are other people around. I fucking hate trying to work out with other people nearby, especially when I'm so weak and out of shape.

                  Yeah I'm not a fan of working out with others either, but Good Life has a no-judgment policy and also generally I go there around 1 PM and there's very few people in the place when I do ^^

                  Snacking is actually a good thing, you just have to make sure you're eating healthy stuff (so sayeth many experts, though I surprised to see Dr. Oz talking about it too). Generally, some healthy nuts or carrots or granola etc. - something that's good for you to curb your hunger inbetween meals. Doing this also keeps your body in a constant mode of burning calories, which I'm sure has been working in my favor over the years. My family is big on food too, or at least my Dad and I are. Makes me wonder why there hasn't been more R&D put in towards making the stuff we love to pig out on healthier, or at least finding more safe ways to compensate for a little indulgence here and there - come on medical science!

                    Snacking in this context referring to my compulsive devouring of potato chips while watching a movie because it's a habit rather than a need for food intake. I still do it from time to time, but I'm trying to at least limit how much and how often it happens. It's really easy to just sit down to watch a movie and go through multiple bowls of chips. I think it's mostly a nervous habit honestly.

                    As for making the things we pig out on healthier, I've found rice cakes to be a nice lower calorie alternative. Still not a good idea to pig out, but they taste good, fill me up and don't pack on the mountain of calories that I'd get from say some cheetos.

                      I snack because it tastes good and I there are good memories associated with it.

                          Yeah one of the local stores has this absolutely divine looking strawberry cheesecake on sale for $12 (down from 20, and the thing is HUGE) but... no.

                          I can't have it ; . ;

                            I started tracking my weight again about three weeks ago and I was doing good, last week I had lost 6 lbs.

                            This week, back up two.

                            Went on another run after my weigh in, time to step up my motherfucking game.

                              Bodies are weird. Weight can bounce all over the place over the course of a day. I find I'm usually at my lowest when I wake up in the morning. I figure it's due to my body running on reserves over night since there's no new food intake during that time.

                              In other news I'm still sore from attempting pull ups. I guess I should have expected that since all those muscles haven't been used in years, but I still didn't expect to be this sore two days after.

                                heh yeah. I'm really sad, because yesterday I was all psyched up but after going over things again with family and friends, I'm going to have to decline further sessions with my trainer, at least for now;

                                I just can't afford to spend the money, even though it's for a good cause that I very much enjoy and want to do. I'm still looking for work, and quite honestly even the membership fee is digging into me without the PT fees adding on to that. Plus I need a new computer, new lenses for my glasses and other expenses coming up. My trainer really doesn't think I'll get the results I want going solo (neither do I for that matter) but in the mean time, it's all I can realistically afford without breaking the bank.
