Contrary to the probable intention of the second amendment, for one thing, it's not possible for the people to adequately arm themselves to stand against the government's military and security forces as 18th century American revolutionaries did. I would wait on this point for more non-lethal defense systems, such as sonic and heat weapons, to reach the mass market. They should be harder to strictly regulate by their nature, and should work as well for what they're needed for. For another thing, political theory and philosophy aren't caught up to a point that they can provide a viable alternative to the broken system we now have. You can't replace something with nothing. When the Revolutionary War took place, the intellectual atmosphere was ripe for the emergence of a new form of government. Look at the Occupy movement. We as a people have got nothing yet.

If you want to go and martyr yourself to prove a point, that's another matter, but given the way things are now, unlikely to be effective. First of all, if you identify yourself as an imminent threat, the government can take you out quietly in the night. Eric Holder as much as said so. So the plan's not likely to get off the ground now that you've mentioned it in public. Secondly, even if you pulled it off, the media would tear you to shreds and any message you intend would be destroyed. You'd be labeled a terrorist; your ideologies, if they were even discussed, would be distorted and new ideologies would be invented and attributed to you. They'd spin you into non-existence without government coercion because that is what our media does. Even if they weren't entirely successful in doing so, our culture right now is ill-inclined to consider the political viewpoints of armed criminals. It's where we are right now.

Anger is useful but rash action isn't. I know I'm probably taking your post much more seriously than needs be, but seriously, keep your head down, keep learning and thinking, and look for opportunities to make a difference.

I understand what you are saying, I just had to vent that. Was just... Ugh. Really tired of the bullshit they are shoving down our throats, eyes, and ears.

While yes, its hard to get anything started, all that you need is a few people. If they are good enough to be trusted/helpful, they will go to their friends, and their friends would go to theirs, and so on and so forth. Don't put anything on the net, all written by hand, and burned once read by the ones that need it.

Its hard to get hands on weapons, and I do not like killing one bit, but the government is blood thirsty, and its terrible. It needs to end. As simple as that. while yes, I agree the government does protect us, but they don't tell us what needs to be told. The media is government controlled, and does what they say. With facebook, and social networking sites, its easier to gather people, but easier for the government to end it as quickly as it starts.

But, if there are people who start standing up, and people know about them, but they keep vanishing, others will start to see (If they aren't completly blind sheep by now.), that something is amiss, and rather just sit there and do nothing, they would research it, calling it attention to others. And, what would the government do? Wipe out everyone that knows about it? They can't, other wise people will keep going on and on about it, and something will happen.

While I my self am unable to do anything right now, I can form ideas, and write them down until I figure out what to do. If I can get my friends the information, and have them share it and so on, that could help people start to open their eyes.

I would anticipate another Syria if American citizens were to attempt a revolution. Look at the Occupy camps and the gross misuse of power exhibited by local police.

The government is corrupt only insofar as wealthy citizens and corporations purchasing laws and other favors. Whether it's obvious or under the table, any government can't function properly with that kind of influence on them. The real problem is the rich trying to protect their money and position in society while putting others in a position to be profited from. These people are known as republicans.

If you're that pissed off, vote with your feet.

1- You instantly get that nicer life you want
2- Unless you're insanely rich (like, part of the problem rich), you don't generally have to pay American taxes, thus starving the monster you hate so much
3- In another country, you can improve goodwill towards America by not being an asshole.
3b- You can also lead foreigners to petition their government to tell America to shove it
          4- See the world
          5- See the women
          6- See the women naked

EDIT: Also, humans trying to kill each other is such a great economic and technological driver that we really shouldn't complain too much.

I mean fuck, the only other force that drives industry for such an insane and pointless waste of human life is video games.

Another Syria? That's pretty tinfoil hat don't you think?

Police brutality is one thing, it's another story entirely for the military to crack down with that level of force on civilians.

It's the reality we live in. There are a lot of industrialized countries out there willing to kill their own people just to shut them up. It could just as easily happen in America.

I believe that another Syria could happen, in the US.

When they first started covering the Occupy movement, they started cracking down on them, and forcing them to move out. Instead of just going out there, and listening to them, what did they do? They ignored them, and ATTACKED them. That right there is already causing more tension than there is needed. The Government it self is going to cause an up-rise some time soon. They are going to force it.

Hell, I used to be blind and think the president was in charge but no, there's people behind him pulling the strings.

and no its not republicans Dak... Its politicians. All of them are corrupt, they lie through their teeth, and then turn around and harm the united states, the people that live here.

Make the rich live as normal people, and see how fast things change....

Even Bush wouldn't be so brazen as to sick the army on its own people. Shit, I doubt (most of) your own military personnel would go along with it for that matter.

What do you think the NDAA is Mal? What are the drones and anti-protest laws for?

Just looking at how cops treat peaceful protesters do you really think they will refuse once they are ordered to shoot? The "I have a family to support!" type of excuses will fly all over the place.

Heck, for profit prisons are demanding a 90% occupation clause on the freaking contracts. You know things are bad when half the stuff Jones said years ago is actually happening all over the place and people doesn't even know about it because the media is too busy regurgitating entertainment news.

Ya'll are fucking paranoid beyond belief.

Not that I agree with the NDAA at all, but what are you afraid of? If you're not doing anything suspicious and don't meet the criteria for being a terrorist, what's the problem? I wouldn't be surprised if the subject comes up repeatedly in the general election however, especially if/when they have any Youtube debates (I certainly hope it does).

As for the drones, there's already surveillance cameras almost everywhere you go - nevermind that the majority of cell phones now also have cameras. So what if drones are being used now? Is it really any different just because they can move? You've acting like they're going to use predators or reapers to bomb U.S. citizens.

It's in history that this bs has happened before, and on recently. Just look at the facts.

Low profile, isloated takedowns I could believe. Using military force as a blunt instrument against its own people? Never gonna happen. Even if we got a president evil enough to want to, an army of Glenn Becks couldn't put enough spin on that story to make it anything but political suicide, and if he still tried the army would refuse the order. There's no comparison politically and culturally between the Syrian military and our own.

There's definitely a historical precedence that the rich will go to whatever lengths necessary to protect their money. Unfortunately for everybody else, money talks, and it can't be reasoned with. We've been seeing this for a long time.
