I was doing math reviews on Khan Academy this morning and ran into this problem:

That was really subtle, and it took me 3 minutes to catch it, but then I smiled.

Have I ever mentioned how awesome my local game store is?

Amusingly not one Eeveelution can safely switch in against a Dragonite .

Vaporeon can tank a Physical setup ,but you are basically giving Dragonite free Dragon Dances and Roosts to buff up and heal off the damage, It will get to the point where it's going to be pretty much unstoppable.

If Dragonite is setup as a Special Attacker then Vapoeron is eating a 100% Accuracy Thunder since Special Draggy is only used on Rain Teams. Basically if you don't switch out Vapoeron it WILL die horribly that turn.

Either way that kid's Eevee was fucked.

FWIW, Glaceon can pull off 6x damage against Dragonite, but it's a bit of a glass cannon.

Also, nowadays, Normal Eevee has a few gimmicks for people who really want to go that route (such as Trump Card and Last Resort), so it's somewhat inaccurate to say that it's completely useless. If all else fails, it could simply take up coding.

Actually Glaceon makes a good Physical Tank. Special Attack and Defence are its best stats but Speed and its Movepool is what lets it down a lot.

Glaceon also has no way of outspeeding Dragonite (65 Base Speed vs Dragonite's 80). Plus Ice Shard is a Physical Attack, which uses one of Glaceon's worst stat and it will almost certainly be reduced by Dragonite's Multiscale. You're putting a lot on Dragonite missing (entirely possible in Hail due to Snow Cloak) and the other guy not switching out. It's far safer to just switch out the Glaceon into something that can tank a hit from a Dragonite, or will scare the other guy into switching.

It's one of those deceptive matchups like Jolteon vs Gyarados. On paper Jolteon should wipe the floor with the Gyarados. However, Jolteon can't safely switch in against a Gyarados because it will probably be packing earthquake. So you need a safe way to get it in to start, easier said than done since Gyarados can have Moxie so a Revenge Kill from Jolteon would mean you are giving the Gyarados a free Attack buff. Likewise, Gyarados can't exactly switch in against a Jolteon because it's pretty much going to get oneshot by it.

Both examples also do show how important Scouting is in a battle really. The more you know about what Build, Items and Moveset the other person's team has, the better you can predict what is coming.

For what it's worth, Vaporeon and Jolteon are two of my favourite Pokemon to use. I once had a team back in Gen 4 based around Vaperon as a Tank/Wish Healer. Sadly it's a little difficult to pull that off in Gen 5. That said my friend does have the world's most annoying Sandstorm team that uses Hippowdon and Vapoeron as a Tank duo, while spamming Whirlwind/Roar and Slack Off/Wish to rack up Stealth Rock and Sandstorm damage. It's fun as hell to fight against though.

                  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over_Avian_Carriers
Inspired by RFC 2549, on 9 September 2009, the marketing team of The Unlimited, a regional company in South Africa, decided to host a tongue-in-cheek "Pigeon Race" between their pet pigeon "Winston" and local telecom company Telkom SA. The race was to send 4 gigabytes of data from Howick to Hillcrest, approximately 60 km apart. The pigeon carrying a microSD card, versus a Telkom ADSL line.[9] Winston beat the data transfer over Telkom's ADSL line, with a total time of two hours, six minutes and 57 seconds from uploading data on the microSD card to completion of download from card. At the time of Winston's victory, the ADSL transfer was just under 4% complete.[10][11]

A similar "Pigeon Race" was conducted by Michelle Brumfield in rural Yorkshire, England: delivering a five-minute video to a BBC correspondent 75 miles away in Skegness. She pitted the pigeon (again carrying a memory card) against an upload to YouTube via British Telecom broadband; the pigeon arrived in about ninety minutes while the upload was still incomplete, having failed once in the interim.[12]

If you want to know while BT is a pile of shit for an ISP then that would be why.
