Last Summer I tried to learn how to write batch files. That shit's fucking arcane and I couldn't find a decent tutorial anywhere, so I just used Python instead.

There's a lot of double standards in society about what is and isn't acceptable so I'm mostly indifferent. It does bother me when sports fanaticism reaches religious cult levels and jocks or pro athletes get away with shit they really shouldn't though.

Simple batch files aren't at all arcane. It's basically making a text file with commands you'd otherwise be typing into the command line and running the file instead of typing stuff manually. I don't know what kind of crazy voodoo you were trying to make happen, but stuff like automatically remounting a squirrely network drive that insists on dismounting after every reboot isn't particularly complex.

It had something to do with batch-deleting all the .png files that had the same filename as a .jpg file in a folder I would pass as a command line parameter. Just writing chains of commands is simple enough, but doing any sort of computation quickly turned ugly and tedious.
