It's not that I'm sick of campaign season, it's that I'm sick of the fact that the US is the only country that shoves it's election down the throats of the rest of the world.

Really, all the rest of the world needs to know is if the Democrat won and the US is just going to be right-wing for another 4 years, or if the Republican won and someone is getting invaded, and gay people are going to be ritually sacrificed during the next hurricane season.

The rest of the world has to hear about our elections because the sad fact is they will affect you. On the other hand, we couldn't give a fuck about who just got elected in Portugal or whatever fancy countries you have over there, because they're not too likely too crash our economy, bomb one of our allies, or get into an ill-advised pissing match with Russia or China.

also, we're not shoving our electoral news down your throat. We don't give two shits about your interest, and in fact there's quite a few Americans who would rather foreigners got their noses out of our democratic process anyway. It's because you're interested; if you weren't, your media wouldn't waste their time covering it.

I would point out that in addition to TM's cynical view of what most Americans think of as foreign policy, there's also a ton of stuff that is influenced by the US in other ways; besides economic crashes, we do bring a lot of economic prosperity as well, both in aid, and in trade. We provide arms and training to a good portion of the rest of the world; obviously different candidates are going to have different opinions on what guns to sell to who at what price. There's treaties on all sorts of issues, where America's willingness to hold itself to an international standard has economic effects (product labeling alone...). America's visa policy can be very important, for those who wish to do business or seek an education in America, or simply tourists. We're not all good, but there's a reason most of the developed world is buddy buddy with us.

Do entire news websites get taken over to cover other country's elections in the US? What about 24 hour news channels becoming soly dedicates to it? What about it being literally the first thing on the news every morning the second election season starts?

I'm not saying we don't need to know about the US elections but seriously, when the entire fucking season is shoved down the threats of everyone else at the expense of reporting other things that might be more important to a country than whatever the latest election season gaffe in the US is, it just gets ridiculous.

The reason is the US is the rich bully with guns though. Most of USA's wealth comes from intervention in other countries in order to extract resources from them. See Iraq, the US sponsored Saddam's dictatorship in the first place, then when he stopped supporting the petrodollar and switched to the Euro he was swiftly assassinated and the country ruined with the first action of the war being bringing Iraq's Oil trade back to the Petrodollar and with even worse conditions for the Iraqi people. And the ones that don't want to play ball with the bully are demonized and invaded just like that no matter how many hundreds of thousands of people die in the process.

Just look at Venezuela and Iran. Israel started the Middle east arms race, yet it is Iran who is being blamed for it. But it is only because Iran is not trading oil in dollars. The US is currently sponsoring dictatorships far worse than anything a country like Iran has done in the last 3 decades.

So yeah, thinking the US is this good influence for the world is just people from the US buying their own publicity while actively refusing to see how many people have died for their 99 cent burgers.
