My wife made a calendar for me with pictures of the kids. I just turned it over to October and was greeted by a picture of my daughters before trick-or-treating last year. They are in cheap outfits that don't fit them well with gaudy makeup that would probably make Mimi blush. And they are the happiest girls in the world. They feel like a million bucks!

It made me stop and think about the stupid stuff that is going on at work and all the stress that it is causing me and thus the family. Then it made me realize that all that crap doesn't matter. If the kids are happy and feel special, then things must be all right!

      Aww, that's so sweet.

I'd say that post made me smile, but there's some water in my eyes from it so I'm not sure if it counts. Though I did smile. So I guess it does.

Can MOS burger be compared to anything here in the states? What do they serve? What did you eat when you were there?

Is the menu he posted blocked for you? It has hot dogs, french fries, and various burger-style sandwiches with different kinds of meat.

Watching NCIS tonight and I was rather thrilled to see that I own the same shirt Abby was wearing on part of the show tonight. I wasn't sure until I saw it from a different angle, but as soon as I realized I thought it was awesome.

Uh, being fat is being lazy. Put in effort and you will lose weight. Be lazy and you won't.

Being super skinny? Sure, a lot of that is genes and luck; not being obese? That's getting off the couch and putting down the cheetos.

Frankly, it is hypocritical to discuss "community responsibility" while living a lifestyle which is fundamentally harmful to your community. Obesity, for the %95 of obese people who aren't that way because of a medical condition, is harmful to yourself, those around you, and society at large. It's not something to be defending.

It's sad to say that in a almost a decade of nursing, 3 years of that my training. I've seen obesity hurt others, Myself included. Making a bed with E Honda in it whilst flipping them over to scrub the bits they can't reach and oil between the folds isnt the way I'd like to start my day especially when it starts to hurt my back, I lift and mobilise people correctly and renew my manual handling certificate annually. Aside from having access to a crane and a room that can turn off the gravity. Here in England we can't nurse people that are categorised as Bariatric <- sp may be a bit off, Above the first floor. I work on the 3rd floor and still get admissions of about 5 of the huge buggers per day because we're just overrun by them.
Also visiting times are like doing an assault course. 3 visitors per bed usually. Fat people come in clusters usually, I for one don't like having to traverse people in an emergency situation, I feel like Indiana jones being chased by the boulder when they move.

The whole genetics/glandular thing allthough it is correct in some cases, It's something they've heard and apply it to their lifestyle regardless of it being true or not.
Mike & Molly should be banned from tv it glorifies being huge aside from bad writing they apparently met in a "fat club" but as the series progress their size remains the same. /
I am one of those skinny bitches size 28 waist 30 in some stores, I eat junk food like there is no tomorrow, I drink fizzy sugar laced drinks, I bake like mad and eat a LOT of cake, I don't get the recommended sleep, I have irregular sleep patterns, I drink more units of alcohol than advised, I play computer games and slob in front of tv in my spare time.
I manage to do this working as a nurse full time. I do shifts on other wards via the hospitals staffing agency/overtime. I work in the evenings performing in gay bars doing drag.
My mum dad and siblings, whilst not "fat" are certainly capable of pinching an inch or two. Yet I'm always on the go and stick thin.
To me those that are chunky is fine but when you have to stretch further to wipe your butt than you do to reach for the toilet paper, some bell surely must ring in your head and make you think it's time to put the cake and fork down.

And dont get me started on how many times I've been ran over by one of those motorised Obecycles.

Although I believe there's some genetic basis that would give people a proclivity to being "overweight," I have a hard time believing that there's some heritable factor that makes one hopelessly obese to the point that they can't move or help themselves. That shit's not adaptive. These genes survived on the savannah for hundreds of years. If you can't, that's up to what you've done with them. I realize there are genetic diseases, but there's no such thing as a genetic disease epidemic.

                            - - - ghetto merge - - -

Well, scratch that. I don't believe there's a genetic component, but I could buy that there's a heritable one. Look up the Dutch famine birth cohort study, if you haven't heard of it. The tl;dr is that women who experienced starvation in their lives are more likely to have children who aggressively store calories in the form of fat. It makes them better suited to survive periods of food scarcity. So in a darkly ironic twist, the obesity epidemic may be caused by starvation dieting fads of previous generations.

That's all she needed to say. I get more offensive spam mail, multiple times a day, and you don't see me on a soapbox. I dislike bullying in any form, but the theatrics killed any sympathy I had for her.
