Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
Re: Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
Started my new job today. Working in the advertising/finance department for one of our local TV channels. Got to watch a live broadcast in the studio, which was cool. Uneventful first day. This will suit nicely while I'm going through school.
Re: Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
I'm having one of those nights where I throw anything in a skillet, make a pot of rice on the side and hoping it works out because I didn't really start with an actual plan for it.
A big can of Sweet Onion baked beans.
One tomato
a cup of water
half a can of green beans
Some chicken
a few dashes of salt
Okay... its not thickening... um... some Parmesan cheese
Wait a few minutes.
Okay still needs to be thicker... um... that bag of rice I didn't use for the curry yesterday because I had a just used other rice. Even though I've got a big pot of rice going. LOGIC.
Allow to simmer.
Taste test - not offensive, still sweet and oniony, but with chicken, tomoto and green beans in it. Will not kill anyone. Sufficent servings to last me the entire weekend because I'm unsure I'd want to risk this on anyone else. I think it is okay and will not destroy anyone in a single strike.
And the picture reminds me of a girlfriend I once had. She could quite literally set fire to water, and she once cooked what she claimed was a "Tuna Pasta Thingie", but it really tasted like a Cheese Omelette and left me bedridden for an entire weekend.
I remember being there when she somehow managed to set fire to Baked Beans. I still hear her screams of "WHY ARE THE BEANS ON FIRE?" in 'Nam style flashbacks.

FFV: Gilgamesh: "This game has a coherent main character too!"
FFIV: Cecil: "People really die!"
FFIII: Onion Kid: "People remember me!"
FFII: Firon: "This game is happy!"
FFI: Warrior of Light: "I have a name!"

Odd choice using Snow for the diagram. Did Lightning not have any notable delusions? Because I think that everyone who's even heard of XIII is aware that she's the big kahuna.

However much I am actually smart, I got that way by confronting how stupid I am.

Update: After contacting HR again, I've solidified my case against the company for wrongful termination. I presented my "threat" to big boss in yet another sit down meeting and informed her that had my reasonable terms been met, I wouldn't have been forced to take matters as far as they have been. I further informed her that due to the continuing need for me on the weekends, I would continue to show up provided that my badge didn't get cut off and my pay didn't cease. It has now been 2 weeks of me being on "Level 3 Final Warning" and I have yet to be fired for the 4 days I've called out since achieving the esteemed title.
In related news, I have been informed by one of my good friends from another department that he was approached by big boss asking him to grant her access to my private facebook so that she could find out if I had been trash talking the company over social media. He informed me that his response was "why the hell would I invade a friend's privacy in order for you to exploit his wording for your own devices". God I love my friends.
Also also: As any of you who are actually friends with me on facebook can plainly see, I have not said a negative word about this company in the past 5 years of my employment with them. Why? Because I'm not stupid. People get fired for that kind of shit all the time. Social media is hardly a safe place to vent one's frustrations with work.
I just think it's funny that she heard I had been saying negative things... and despite it not being true in the least, she keeps trying to gain access to it anyway. Let her try... fuck it... let her get access. I have half a mind to make it public just to watch the egg roll off her face and onto my boot.

I used to trash talk work (and my boss) on FB, but I have specific lists that only show to a few people. Though most of my posts are pretty vague in general. I'm careful about making sure people who shouldn't see my bad stuff don't see it. This also goes for blocking my family from some posts that aren't their business.

Exactly. That's what anonymous internet forums are for.

Celebrated the new job and subsequent pay raise with a trip to the mall. It's been so long since I had the chance to splurge on myself. There was a sale so I got a lot of stuff for $100. I normally can't justify spending that much but I really just needed to treat myself for a change.
Also, I like my coworkers, there are five people total in my department and it's a really small space (when I think about it) but doesn't feel small because it's laid out well. We listen to the radio (something I couldn't do at my last job) and we have a fish named Walter. And the best part is, I'm not expected to check my e-mails from home, do work from home, and be on call 24/7. Freedom.
