Re: Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
Don't even know why people are so up in arms about Fire/Fighting. It's a great type combination - it removes your weakness to Rock (and by extension Stealth Rock) and gives you something to really pummel Water types with. There isn't any type that resists both Fire and Fighting as far as I know.

Bulbasaur was also Grass/Poison, like every other grass type with the exception of Tangela.Server: Midgardsormr -> Quetzalcoatl -> Valefor

Look at the current "Top" Tier: OU (B/W) - Smogon University . And people will see just how useful having access to Fighting Type moves really is.Rahal Gerrant - Balmung - 188 DRK

Fighting Types are also the most powerful types in the game.
But yeah, Fighting type is pretty awesome.

Re: Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
I would have said Ice actually is the typical example of a type only appearing in OU because of one Pokemon: Garchomp. I still can't believe that both Garchomp and Salamence are unbanned given how much that over centralise the entire metagame. Even with Sand Veil banned from Sandstorm Teams you still need your teams set up like this:
Opener
Stealth Rock Bitch/Rapid Spin Bitch
Physical Sweeper
Special Sweeper
Dedicated Garchomp/Salamence Counter Part 1 (Always dies)
Dedicated Garchomp/Salamence Counter Part 2 (Is highly likely to die anyway)
That is basically an entire third of the team (one of which will be a sacrificial lamb) dedicated to taking down Garchomp purely due to there maybe being a chance of it appearing. Same with Salamence too. Even with Sand Veil banned, Garchomp is still pretty broken by himself, same with Salamence.Rahal Gerrant - Balmung - 188 DRK

Re: Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
To be fair, Fire/Fighting isn't getting flak because it really is a super-solid type combination, but because it got stale after the second time. Yeah, Infernape was a tour de force in the meta for its time. But in all honesty, who actually really liked Infernape? All it effectively did at the time was to be a "more usable" Blaziken. The power creep in general in generations IV and V didn't particularly help matters.
The five Grass starters have /Posion, /NONE, /NONE, /Ground, and /NONE.
The five Water starters have /NONE, /NONE, /Ground, /FREAKING STEEL, and /NONE.
The five Fire starters have /Flying, /NONE, /Fighting, /Fighting, /Fighting.
At this rate, Fire-type fans would be happier if Fennekin ended up not having any second typing at all, and it'd probably still see play anyway if recent power creep trends are any indication. (In essence it'd be a "usable" Typhlosion.) The /Psychic speculation would be highly amusing if true, though, in light of the past three /Fighting guys.Last edited by Yellow Mage; 01-24-2013, 02:08 PM. Reason: Though even in relation to Fighting-types, /Psychic just makes it a Charizard that isn't raped as hard by Stealth Rock but is still vulnerable to Ground. And, of course, statistically superior.Originally posted by ArmandoNo one at Square Enix has heard of Occam's Razor.Originally posted by ArmandoNintendo always seems to have a legion of haters at the wings ready to jump in and prop up straw men about hardware and gimmicks and casuals.Originally posted by TaskmageGOD IS MIFFED AT AMERICA

Fennekin is the first Fire starter that I've found remotely appealing since Cyndaquil.Server: Midgardsormr -> Quetzalcoatl -> Valefor
