There is a lot of...snuff in the series. A lot of it. A loooot. A lot. A lot. A lot. It's however still a romance due to the sole fact of how Lucy struggles so very hard to change for one person.

Anime Ending

Lucy goes off to confront Mariko and to end being captured. She ends up fighting Mariko and losing horribly, due to range factor, however later on Mariko's "Papa" kills her with C4. Bad end for Mariko. As for Lucy, the military goes after her for one last time, she fights her way through them, but see's the amount of suffering she will bring if she stays alive and decides to be shot to death. The last episode then leads onto a cliff hanger however and doesn't SHOW Lucy being shot, but only the sounds of guns going off in the distance. Later on in the episode there is a scene where Lucy's shadow is seen on a blanket hanging outside, indicating she survived.

To me it's the producers way of giving the viewer the choice of a happy ending or a bad one. Chosing the former or the latter so to speak.

Manga Ending

Military synopsis again, only times time when Lucy is about to be shot I believe Kohta get's shot instead. Lucy having progressed to Queen Diclonii already exceeds her power limit and goes crazy over her lover being shot, where she then proceeds to destroy the entire military by extending her vectors over the length of the globe. However in doing this Lucy uses her power up as a diclonii and her body begins to physically break down as compensation for the power given to her, in this moment however her killer intent is freed and aims to kill Kohta and finish him off. But as true love has it, Lucy holds the evil in her heart for humans back and with her last remaining power hands Kohta a handgun and tells him to shoot the melting pile of flesh that is not her, but the evil trying to take over. With a last drawn breath and a heart of steel Kohta shoots her and ends the woman's life.

Just not my thing. I'm sure much of it is actually really good, but I struggle with getting past the soooo kawaii ^.^ high pitched girlie voices that are so prevalent.

Just watch Cowboy Bebop. That's really all you'll ever need.

I don't watch much lately, but I've watched more than most people can stomach over the years. A few years back the crop of shows I found compelling dried up and I just never really got back to it. The time investment is pretty massive if you're slogging through the mediocre stuff to find something that's actually worthwhile.

My kids love Saint Seiya, which they seem to have inherited from my ex. I never could really get into it. Though that may have something to do with the fact that it was in Spanish.

I don't watch much lately, but I've watched more than most people can stomach over the years. A few years back the crop of shows I found compelling dried up and I just never really got back to it. The time investment is pretty massive if you're slogging through the mediocre stuff to find something that's actually worthwhile.

Mainstream Anime is a "No." or a Red Flag for me. I keep away from Shounen related stuff since the storyboards for them are usually horribly done. Example "Naruto." First season when it kicked off was excellent, it gave everybody a role to play. But now it's doing DBZ syndrome where the main character is taking the reigns, going on a power trip and is leaving everybody behind in pursuit of one god damn person.

Stopped watching Bleach, Orihime pushed me to my limit with the constant annoynce of "Kurosaki-kun". Actually there is a challenge to see how long you can stand her saying it. Only got into 2:33 seconds before shutting off the video. The current anime I am watching now is....not suitable for minor-adult audiences, but let's be real here, if you're watching anime to begin with, your already tossing your maturity out the window along with any respect your friends have for you, depending on how they take the perspective of you watching "Japanese Cartoons."

The thing I like about anime, is that is has SOMETHING for everyone who loves it. Horror, Comedy, Love, Slapstick, Sci-Fi, Mystery etc....they all are good and keep fans coming back for more. Which is why I respect anime and go to the con's around my area every year.

Not really, no.

Mainstream anime is just like all the rest. Some of it is excellent and most of it is rubbish. Just because it's not mainstream doesn't suddenly make a series better. There is a lot of terrible anime out there.

The same could be said for any type of entertainment - terrible cop dramas, terrible sitcoms, terrible movies, terrible pornos (had to say it). There's plenty of good but you have to sift through all the crap first to find what you like. For some, the effort is worth the end reward, for others, not so much.

Which is why I'm pointing you towards the best show I've found in all my years of sifting. Watch Bebop and retire content in the knowledge that you've seen the best the medium has to offer.

I find myself watching anime that has about 20 episodes, and by the time the end rolls around, I wish it'd have gone on for another 20. FFFF-

And a good majority of the stuff I've watched in the past few weeks isn't really a problem as far as my friends knowing I watch it, but I'd have some explaining to do if it was anyone else.
