This weekend is Extra Life and we at ArcadeBox.TV have decided to take part to help this noble cause. You may find yourself asking, what IS Extra Life? Well, Extra Life is an annual 24-hour video game marathon with the purpose of raising funds for kids at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

ArcadeBox.TV has decided to participate by hosting a Livestream of a group of us playing games for 24 hours (or close to it). The Livestream will run most of the day on October the 15th. You are welcome to join us in chat, give us some game suggestions, ask questions about the event and how you can help. We will be putting up links to the donations page periodically throughout the livestream and are looking forward to seeing most of you there with us.

All donations are tax deductible and 100% of all donations received will go directly to the San Jorge Children’s Foundation at San Jorge Children’s Hospital in San Juan, PR.

There you have it! Me and my friends run ArcadeBox.TV, we're gonna be playing and streaming games for 24 hours straight today (Oct. 15) starting at 9:00 AM -4 GMT. If you're feeling misanthropic, you can donate at my page - just hit the "SUPPORT ME!" button. If not, you can just watch us at Arcadeboxtv and give us suggestions of what games you want to see. We'll probably show some Streets of Rage, Heroes of Newerth, Mirror's Edge, and Marvel VS Capcom 2, among others. Extra Life suggests you donate $1 for each hour we play (i.e. 24) but any amount helps.

Don't worry, we're gonna take shifts.

We just went live, streaming Heroes of Newerth and Torchlight. You can turn off one of your speakers to listen to only one of the games.

There is a whole co-op game play in youtube some where. I found it when I was bored a couple month back. Was fairly interetaining. Just hearing what they had to say, and how simple the puzzles where that they where stuck on. XD

So, we got an e-mail from Extra Life yesterday:

...Lots of Extra Lifers are still committed to reach as-yet-unrealized fundraising goals, and still more are actually participating THIS Saturday as part of the official Extra Life make up day. In addition, there are thousands of dollars still outstanding from people that collected cash and checks and are mailing them in.

So our true total will not be known for some time.

If you found out about Extra Life late, or something came up Saturday, you have time to get to your goal!...

Last Saturday we got $687, which is honestly more than we were expecting! But we're still short of our $1000 goal. So we're gonna do another live stream this coming Saturday starting at noon (again, -4 GMT.)

Have nothing to donate? You can still help by:
* Spreading the word. This is the biggest favor you can do for us.
* If you plan on watching, we'd appreciate game suggestions. We want to give people what they want to see, after all. We'd also like to know how often you'd like to see the games change.
* If you missed us last Saturday, you can watch the stream at our twitch.tv page. Let us know what you liked or didn't like. It can be anything - our game choices, our commentators, the video quality, you name it.

So far I'm thinking of playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV, Shock Troopers 2, Metal Slug X, more Super Meat Boy and a Sonic 3 & Knuckles race with one player using Sonic and the other Knuckles. EDIT: Other good candidates are Star Fox 64, Kirby Super Star and Left 4 Dead 2. The audience asked for Minecraft too at some point.

Also, I'd like to give a shout out to Yellow Mage for donating $12.
