A teenager in China has sold one of his kidneys in order to buy an iPad 2, Chinese media report.

Besides confirming my belief in the disgusting human rights record the country has I have to wonder what kind of a doctor can look himself in the mirror after taking a kidney out of a healthy 17 year old.

oh and stupid kid for giving up a bodypart for an Ipad2..... I would not take one if it was given to me, let alone remove a part of myself to get one....... stupid kid will just sell a lung next to get the Ipad3 when it comes out next year........

True Phimosis is rare and is over-diagnosed. There are non-surgical means of getting around it. The reasoning varies but most circumcisions are not done as a preventative measure for this.

Yes, that is why most people do it. That doesn't make it morally acceptable to start lopping off body parts.

Feba likes small chests. Feba does not like breast ironing. And yes, that's another thing another culture does for health and safety reasons.

And since you asked, I was, and no I don't particularly care. It just annoys the fuck out of me when people from one culture act superior about something when they do far worse. Want to criticize human rights abuses in the PRC? OK! Want to demean their doctors for accepting tissue from living donors? Maybe take a look at the shit our doctors do all the time.

Living donors are one thing, living donors that are minors are another. The doctor performed the operation without the consent of the parents. The first the mother knew about this was when she came home from work and noticed her son had a new laptop and iPad and then noticed he had a large, red scar down his side.

Donating organs while you're still living is something that requires serious thought considering the complications that can arise from any major surgery. A minor, by law, and by most other realistic terms of measurement, does not have the experience or maturity to make such a serious decision.

Well, there was that whole "running over a guy with a tank just because he wanted democracy" thing that happened 22 years ago today. I watched it live on TV when I was 12, but China tells everyone within the Great Firewall of China that no such thing ever happened and those people they just arrested over it today are just some nuts.

Kidneys and circumcisions aside, I'm going to say running people over with tanks and arresting them because they want democracy and human rights is kind of a problem.

The communist government of China says the US is waging an internet war on China when they have military men caught red handed for hacking US businesses. And then they have that thing where they say gold farming is illegal, yet it still happens all over China and apparently especially so in prison.

So yeah, China is really awesome for humans.
