  • Ugh!

So I slipped/fell at work about 2 months ago.

Since then, I've been to an urgent care, ER, orthopedic and neurologist. (Which btw, the orthopedic sucks.) The neurologist prescribed me 2 meds (and WC only approved 1). Amitriptyline.

Before this, I never heard of this medication. I took the first pill last night, and I can say that I do not like the way it makes me feel, in the mornings (since this is the first morning, I think it's safe to assume that I'll feel this way every morning).

Anyhow, if you guys are wondering about the slip/fall, it was at the warehouse of the company I work for. My left foot hurts constantly (almost 3 weeks ago, the ortho gave me a cortisone shot, but it only worked for about 2 days); my left knee was sprained, but it's much better; back/neck pain; constant headaches (I even got a concussion); and the neurologist wants to do a test on my left arm because he thinks that in the fall I damaged nerves in that arm. Great.

Anyone have any experience with this med? I know that we have a few nurses and such on this board. I read about it, and it's primary thing is to treat depression (as it's an anti-depressant), but it also deals with eating disorders and preventing migraines?

I don't know about drugs at all, I try to avoid them, but... have you been to a Chiropractor or Physiotherapist?

You could have some joints and such slightly out of alignment which would respond well to gentle manipulation rather than surgery.

Acupuncture might also be an option, depending on what you injured.

My Mom worked retail a few years back & hurt her back pulling a heavy box from a high shelf. When she was faced with the prospect of some long physical therapy regimen, someone suggested acupuncture. Mom really didn't think it would work, but she figured she might as well try -- and it worked. It might be worth a try for you.
