Is radical moderate a political party yet? Because I really feel like that's what I need right now. I'm thoroughly disgusted with the far right and the far left at the moment to the point where I can't in good conscience support either. As someone who was raised pretty hardcore leftist, it feels pretty shitty to look at the basic ideals of the left and say "yeah I still support that", but then look at all the shit that's piled on top of it and see how they're trying to get to said ideals and scream "Jesus fucking Christ, you're worse than the opposition".

The only 2 people who even come close to that in Politics are Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, and they're both very sane and sensible.

Unless you're just ranting about moron hippies who don't know wtf they're talking about, because there are plenty of those. The Republicans are basically hardcore Oligarchy at this point, the Democrats are around where the Republicans used to be pre-Reagan (though not quite Teddy Roosevelt quality sadly) and then there's the crazy libertarians.

The only sane politicians these days seem to be the Independents.

Yeah I'm basically just ranting about hippies and hipsters. There's just been a troubling amount of authoritarian thought circulating lately and it's got me down. I see a lot of good people end up becoming the monsters they fight.

Jeb Bush is not nearly as crack-y as people make him out to be. He was a pretty good governor in Florida for a while, even though he was in charge during the 2000 election debacle. I don't think that was his fault though, lol.

People think that GW was crazy and all that, but aside from Iraq which was (and still is) quite questionable, his foreign policy has not been bad. People can harp on the War on Terror all they want, but they would have bitched just as much - if not more - if we hadn't done anything after 9/11. People aren't cool with another Bush in the White House though. Honestly, I don't know why they're cool with another Clinton, either, but that's beside the point. And I haven't liked Hilary since the 90s, so I'm honestly sick to death of seeing her face at this point.

I think Jeb would have a reasonable shot after a few more election terms. Give the country more time, let the Bush "legacy" wear off. People are already looking more favorably upon GW than they did while he was in office 6 years ago. I think it's too soon for Jeb still.

Yeah that's because the bomb Clinton lit (repealing Glass-steagal) hadn't gone off yet.

Statistically, the U.S. did best overall (apart from civil rights obviously) pretty much since FDR took office until around the 1970's when things started going pear-shaped. The highest tax rate during that era never dipped below 70% and often was 90+ and you know what? The super rich *still* lived very well. The thing is, so did most Americans.


It's actually really sad to see even guys like Rand Paul go back on their word. I never liked the guy much or his Dad to begin with, but at least he was all for downsizing the military and auditing the Fed. Now he wants to increase military spending by (and no surprise here) yet more cuts to domestic spending, because fuck investing in people and taking care of the least fortunate among us.

In other news, I'm not sure how many of you read BG ... I know a few of you do, but my apartment flooded yesterday and it looks like maybe one more day of obnoxiously loud fans and I might be able to return to some semblance of normalcy.
