                  No, that would be Kickstarter. Patreon (at least, from what I've seen) is more like a means of self-employment.

                    A number of channels are using it so they can run ad free videos. There's a couple of good channels like the ones belonging to Matt Lees, Jim Sterling and the Extra Credits guys that do the whole Pateron thing pretty well.

                        Taylor Davis has stepped up the quality and frequency of her videos, and I imagine a big part of that is thanks to pulling in nearly $2000 whenever she uploads one. I like her stuff, so I don't mind giving her $2 a month.


                        Also Gunnerkrigg Court is still my all-time favorite webcomic and considering Tom Siddel quit his job to work on it full time, I consider it criminal for me to get so much enjoyment out of it without paying a dime.
