Wait, you can still perma-brick motherboards? You can typically just jump it, or remove the CMOS battery and put it back in, or sometimes there's a secondary BIOS you can load to restore the main one. At least in my own experience at bricking a few motherboards at work temporarily.

I kind of want to go to the Bioware forums to discuss games. But I'm reading a thread on mages vs templars right now in the Dragon Age forums and it's hella scary in there.

Yup. It was a bad flash and the thing bricked.

I actually think the best moment of EVO this year was in BlazBlue's Grand Finals. Garireo claws back out of loser's after being sent there 0-3 by Dogura, and beats Dogura in the final. Amazing stuff.

Oh without a doubt. I caught most of the top 8 for Blazblue and holy shit was that an energized finale. I was a little disappointed when Dora Bang got knocked out, but the grand finals were as intense as anyone could have hoped for.

I can't stop listening to this song.

Kudos to Weird Al for turning a catchy song with appalling and rapey lyrics into a fun tune I won't feel disgusted listening to.

Not to mention the fact that it fits so perfectly with my major.

Weird Al later apologized over his use of the word "spastic" in the song once someone told him that it was offensive.

The aforementioned blog post writing must've been truly horrifying indeed.

(No, seriously, Weird Al is a pretty swell guy though.)

I really don't get how the idea that Blurred Lines is 'rape-y' took off. Of course the tumblr crowd is going to read way too much into "you're a good girl" and "I know you want it", because trigger words, but I'm amazed that it somehow caught on. The song is very clearly talking about a consensual relationship, even if you're not paying attention; if you look at it, it's giving the woman more power if anything.

Not really. Take a look at the lyrics; there are a number of references to the woman's choice, selection, pick, and so on; her tastes, needs, desires. The male voice talks about waiting for her, not constraining her, and encouraging her to take action.

You have to be intentionally blocking out all but two lines, and then assigning your own context to those two lines, to think the song is about rape. The idea that calling someone a "good girl" and saying "I know you want it" is only something a rapist would do is absolutely absurd. Hell, in context, the phrase 'good girl' is pretty clearly the opposite of the allegation; "I know you want it, but you're a good girl". Not 'be a good girl and have sex with me', but 'even though you're a proverbial good girl, you also want this thing that doesn't fall within that stereotype'.

I didn't get it either, but people will see what they want to see. To me, the song was about a relationship that wasn't quite committed, but wasn't completely platonic, either. And that's where the blurred lines come in: what's appropriate, what's not appropriate? The lyrics give me the impression the female is very innocent and clean, and kept that way, and he wants to undo all that and make her dirty. Pretty typical fare for music, these days.

On a different topic, I keep seeing listicles titled something like "10 Reasons Why White People Don't Get XYZ", where XYZ is something like racism, or feminism, or what-have-you. I can only roll my eyes so hard.

The song is still shitty. Doesn't matter the meaning.

                                Except this parody.
