Where about is the series at the moment? I know the Red Wedding was at the beginning of Book 3, but there's stuff going on in the Third Series that happened later in the book, and there's bits in Episode 1 that happened before the Red Wedding in the book.

The Books are all from PoV viewpoints each chapter so sometimes it is hard to say "Oh right, in that chapter X happened, so that's where the show is, right?", because it happened in the same chapter of the event, but is going to happen later in the show.

So, the show is about halfway through the third book? Just trying to get a feel for where I am in comparison to everyone else. I'm about a quarter of the way through the second book.

Another thing I've noticed about the books- George R Martin sure likes to linger on food for his descriptions. Every time somebody is eating, half a page is dedicated to what's for dinner and how does it taste?

Okay a certain thing happens right after that which had me put down the book for a while.

Dunno if it was in the show but yeah

Cersei and Jamie have sex next to Joffrey's still warm corpse.

That did not happen in the episode. And I don't really consider that a huge spoiler so I'm not mad at myself for clicking on it.

It very well might in the next episode, but I don't know.

Well given how Martin manages to make every death and sex scene pretty creepy, horrific and disturbing compared to the show, you can probably understand why I put the book down for a bit after reading that described in every detail.

Martin also seems obsessed with letting the reader know what Sam's penis looks like. It's like Etra is a ghost writer for him.

This didn't happen. They had sex in the sept with Joffery's corpse in the coffin, nearby. They didn't lay down next to him at the wedding and get it on.

In the book, this is when Jaime first meets Cersei after returning to King's Landing.
