Not if you have a rice cooker. It's about as easy at it gets. You set it to cook, you walk away, when its done cooking it switches over to warm. You can cook the rice and 3 hours come back and eat it. The key is adding the correct amount of water, but once you figure that out its a breeze.

It's less onerous if you can manage to clean as you go. Doing dishes is awful mainly because it's a huge chore that comes right after food coma sets in.

I have gotten used to cleaning the dishes from the previous meal while I'm cooking the current meal. I have to wait a few minutes for water to boil or the oven to heat anyway.

I still hate it though.

Well luckily I don't usually take that road unless there's traffic. Thankfully my usual route home was fine but still, the last time there was that many police cars and fire trucks near my home was when someone found a grenade in a box of charity clothes (that turned out to be a grenade turned into a lighter), which caused enough panic for the Army to be called in.

What amused me was having soldiers knocking on your front door telling you to stay away from any doors and windows. That is basically the opposite of what everyone i nthe street did because we all wanted to see what the hell was going on .
