Re: Official Bored at Work / Off-Topic Chat Thread II
If you care about spoilers, you should read the goddamn books.
I don't even know jack shit about Game of Thrones, but jesus christ, when there is a gap of YEARS between a book being released and whatever other format you want to see (comic, TV, movie, rock opera, whatever), read it in the original format.
Hell, that goes the other way around. Nobody gives a shit if you want to read the novel of the movie, if you're not going to watch the original when it's released, don't complain that it was spoiled for you before you ever saw it. Fuck, I'm sure a good many of us have had plenty of shit spoiled for us simply by pop culture spreading the spoiler before we were ever goddamn born. Fight Club is like that for me; I've never seen it, but I already know the big surprise. Same for a ton of other movies with twist endings; they're only a surprise for as long as they're fresh, after that nobody gives a damn about protecting the secret. Snape kills Dumbledore, Bruce Willis is actually dead, Darth Vader is Luke's Father, Rosebud was his sled, whatever decade you were born in, this happened to you because popular culture doesn't give a shit
Either don't wait around for the remake, or don't bitch when someone tells you the princess was in another castle anyway.

The above is actually how I came to know everything that happens in Chrono Trigger, Majora's Mask, KOTOR II, Braid, Bioshock II, Bioshock Infinite and Ni No Kuni despite never having played those games in my life.
It's also why Doctor Who discussions on forums make me want to drive my head into a wall. People from the UK aren't allowed to talk about a newly aired episode without someone leaping down their throat because the Americans have to wait a few days to see it. Even though you should expect spoilers in any thread about a game/book/TV Show or a new game/book/TV Show just came out. It was impossible for a time to discuss ANY new Doctor Who episode on TV Tropes because of this, even in threads clearly marked to be about the latest episode.
It's the same with Song of Ice and Fire. You have threads on various online forums about the books derailed by people who didn't read the books, because they saw an unmarked spoiler, then piss and moan at the people that want to discuss the books and not the TV Show because the people that didn't read the books were stupid enough to read a thread about the books. What makes it even more annoying with Game of Thrones is attempting to ask someone where the TV series currently is because the Books and TV Show don't always have their "Chapters" or even Story Arcs in entirely the same order, especially with Series 3 which is based on A Storm of Swords. I've had someone scream bloody murder at me for revealing a "spoiler" that should have already happened in the book going by the events he just described to me in the TV Show, but it actually happened in the next episode...
I'm not saying that revealing spoilers is okay here but some common sense and courtesy from both sides is nice to have.

Game of Thrones season ending was terrible. I thought the foreshadowing in the second to last episode would result in an awesome finale, but they missed that missed that mark by a mile. Plus, the entire episode was flat and the action poorly choreographed. It was a lot like a cheesy Sci-Fi movie.

Are you smoking crack??? First off, that wasn't the season finale... There's one more episode. And that episode last night was fanFUCKINGtastic!!! I can't wait for the season finale NEXT Sunday!!!

Training courses are silly. I've been shipped off to another one this week and the instructor basically said the class would not teach us enough to pass the exam.
Oh good, I was worried this might be a worthwhile outing.
