I just found out that thanks to the newly minted union contract:

Any employee scheduled to work a holiday as part of his/her regularly scheduled shift is entitled to holiday pay as well double time (for up to 8 hours) for their regularly scheduled shift.

Badass. Thanks to my new schedule, I'm working this upcoming Monday (memorial day) and thus... qualify for said above-mentioned MEGA PAY.

I ran the numbers on it... and I'm going to end up getting paid $550.00 (before taxes) for Monday alone. It's about damn time this otherwise useless union did something right.

Y'know, while we're talking about cars . . .

I despise driving. I'd like to avoid it whenever at all possible. I'll be going for my license this Summer basically because my only form of government identification at the moment expires late this Fall.

Having moved to Atlanta, GA from Gainesville, FL, I find myself missing Gainesville a bit because I could get pretty much wherever I wanted via the bus system, which had stops right outside where I lived. Where I'm living in Atlanta, I basically need to be driven to the MARTA station before I even get half that level of freedom. Not to mention that both cities have roughly the same number of people who don't know how to drive, driving, among other things.

Pretty much the only reason I'm here is good luck getting a job in Gainesville.

I can't wait until all traffic is automated. No more wrecks or traffic jams, just automated vehicles taking people where they need to go without the human element fucking everything up on major highways within twenty minutes of rush hour starting.

Driving is pretty terrible. I wish our country didn't have such a hard-on for cars.

A funny thought, but in practice they'd probably work independently of each other. A hacker could compromise a car he has physical access to, but probably not other cars. And in that case it'd be more practical to just get on the car yourself and drive badly.

If I remember correctly Google's smart car has been on the loose for about 2 years now and the one accident it's had occurred while a human was operating it.
