Well -- I'm glad about the alive part. Not so glad about the "at work and cranky" part -- but at least you have a job? I love that pic in your avatar. Your boys are getting so big!

It is really freaking long, but if you or someone you know experiences depression, or you just want to understand depression better, you should probably read it. Most of the volume is mspaint graphics, anyway.

Speaking of depression, I think I'm there again. Frustrating as hell when everything's going great and you think you've got some momentum, and then suddenly you just go dead inside. It's like if you were jogging and out of the blue both your legs went to sleep, except instead of your legs it's your fucking soul. I'd think the mood stabilizers weren't working except I know how much more of a mess I was 18 months ago. They're working, just not as well as I'd like. I just wish there was some way to control or at least predict this happening.

I guess this should be a peeve? idk.
I'm in a similar spot, this evening. I'm fortunate to work, but I feel like that's where my fortune ends. I live at home under a mountain of debt. It's so lonely beneath the mountain.

      Some ranting

Aks is alive and well but I can't say the same for those foolish enough to cross her.

They are. They are also learning to speak English now, so I can have really funny conversations with them sometimes because their English is like my Spanish.

Work is ... whatever. I started training for my new position today, I won't probably take over for two or three more weeks yet.

BBC News - Star Wars and Doctor Who fans clash at Norwich convention

At first I had no words then I realised it's Norwich. Basically Norwich is the closest thing the UK has to the Deep South.

Re: Depression, Penny Arcade The Series did an episode on the matter that I thought was pretty enlightening too.

I've only been there once, and it never manifested in emotional deadness, so Hyperbole and a Half and that PATV episode really opened my eyes to the different ways it can show up. It's terrifying to me that someone could be going through something like that and you might never know. I feel for you, Taskmage/Dak.

I have a phone interview for a possible opportunity with my company back on the East Coast and I am quite anxious and eager to make the call... It could be HUGE, or it could be... meh... Either way, it's exciting... 2 hours and counting...

On the other side of the coin, you can have these problems and never know yourself. You just assume that everyone else has the exact same experience and just deals with it better because they're better people than you are. Especially because that's what the world thinks of mental disorders, and that's what's reinforced to you. Even the people who are closest to you and in the best position to notice and help are likely to have the same problem of perspective, because often there's a genetic component, and they see your behavior as "normal" because they went through the same thing.

Lovely. More people saying, "Take (prescription) drugs. You'll feel better."

Yes. That's exactly how you should first go about fixing the problem.

You know, I get where you're coming from, but mental problems are physical problems and for many people medication is an effective solution.

For many people, yes, but most, including doctors, think medication is the go to fix. There's other ways to fix those issues for a lot people.

I took anti-depressants for years. It helped. Without them I was a bit of a wreck.

Eventually I became a little more lax about taking them and noticed I wasn't a wreck anymore so I was able to stop taking them altogether. I couldn't say what changed, but I can say with certainty that there was a point in my life where they were a tremendous help.
