Re: Official Bored at Work / Off-Topic Chat Thread II
Not really. The cops and the FBI have the entire city on lockdown, all classes, businesses, mass transit, have been shut down, and they're going door-to-door from what I'm seeing on the news. They have this pretty massive perimeter as well.
FBI basically told the internet dwellers to fuck off as soon as they posted their suspect images. They said, "These are the guys we're looking for and not anyone else."
Seems the guys are brothers, 20 and 19 (the 20 year old is the dead one), and Chechnyan (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) descent.
I meant to go grocery shopping about two hours ago but I've been glued to the news.
Re: Official Bored at Work / Off-Topic Chat Thread II
I have an employee who got in a disagreement with me over one negative comment I wrote in her employee evaluation. It was one comment in what was generally a positive report, but she refuses to acknowledge that she had to work on this one particular area.
Today, she came to me with some suggestions to improve the workplace (they generally are not good ideas or at least inconsequential). But I'm wondering if it would be in bad taste to say, "You don't want to hear my suggestions so why should I listen to yours?" Juvenile...but it is what I'm thinking at the moment.

I just sent an e-mail to one of our senior designers about becoming a designer and now I'm super fucking nervous. I was hoping to broach the subject in person, but we rarely get a chance to socialize.

NO need to be a pushover either though. If they are inconsequential, you could thank her for her input and then talk it out with her. Show her these "improvements" might be good ideas, but not really worth implementing in the long run. ie there are more important matters at hand.

Don't know if any of you guys are fans of NCIS ... but holy fucking crap at the ending of tonight's episode, I totally did not fucking see that shit coming.

So my employer has sent me to this test prep class because he wants me to get yet another certification. I feel like I'm learning a lot, but I'm going to end up not passing the certification exam, and then I'm going to forget half of what I've learned here.
Interesting times.
Getting back into a structured learning environment again is kind of nice though. I hadn't realized how much I missed learning that way instead of aimlessly surfing through google search results.
