Sure, but what's the excuse for the business world?
1) Either they're trying to contort boring words into something that sounds marketable, or
2) They're doing it to deliberately hide things they don't want you to take them to task on.
My favorite acronym I picked up from some military guy is ROMA. ROMA data is something they use to bullshit a point through in a presentation. Stands for Right Outta My Ass.

MOS, SOP, PMCS, AR, UCMJ, CID, need I go on?
Everything in the military is abbreviated - considering it takes absolutely forever to accomplish anything in today's Army, I can't understand why it's so important to save time with so many acronyms. I remember out-processing, holy shit, the paperwork should have taken a total of like 45 minutes, and it took me six days of traveling between about seventeen different offices. Because apparently multitasking is impossible.
Harrison Ford is coming back as Han Solo in episode 7. How much make up do you think it's going to take?
Depends on the timeframe they set the movie in. Honestly I don't think it's a good idea. We'll just be watching an old Harrison Ford rather than Han Solo.

Which is weird because I remember hearing way back that there was no way he'd ever reprise the role of Han Solo. A quote somewhere along the lines of Solo not having any depth as a character.
I RNG 75 I WAR 37 I NIN 38 I SAM 50 I Woodworking 92+2
Considering how poorly most manuals are written, I'm inclined to disagree.
The application in every day life is still there. I have to ask the below questions to clients on a daily basis because that ignore the wonderful acronym of RTFM:
"Does it state [insert thing the client is talking about] in your employment contract? Do you have a copy with you?"
"Did you read the terms of conditions before signing? Do you have a copy with you?"
"Is this actually covered by your insurance contract? Have you read through it? Do you have a copy with you?"
"Did you read through your tenancy agreement and do you have a copy of it with you?"
"This is very important. Did you fully read the terms of use and do you have a copy with you do I can check it myself?
"Did you read through the court summons you were given? Where and when is the court date and do you have a copy with you so we can see if it's legit?"
I would say that 80% of the answers to the above questions are "No". Then it's suddenly my fault when I tell them I can't help them on the spot because I have no idea where to even begin when helping them, if there even is an issue.

I spent all night fighting for my life in two nightmares. I'm amazed I feel well-rested.

Well, it's been so long that it can't have a negative impact on his career, so what's he got to lose?
