ways to die? Helium asphyxiation. You die from the lack of oxygen-- but that lack of oxygen causes you to pass out before it becomes painful. Apparently, your body doesn't realize helium is that much different from normal air. Generally speaking, helium is very cheaply available, so the only cost is the delivery method; at the nicest, a breather mask. The only danger of making a mess/causing pain is if you set the pressure release too high, which risks blowing out your lungs, but other than that, if you just let it come slowly you'll be fine. Until you die, I mean. Obviously people don't like stumbling across bodies, but at least it's a much cleaner method than, say, shotguns, while still being much more assured of success than poisoning (with commonly available poisons, anyway).

Honestly, just the thought of dying in and of itself gives me the creeps, even with methods that are considered more humane.

Of course, is true immortality--being literally unable to die--any better a fate? Either thought can be scary enough that the only option left is basically to live in the moment.

(Of course, not killing others around you in the process--i.e. morality--is a different but not mutually exclusive subject.)

I'm not really afraid to die. I've faced it a few times (once or twice nearly by my own hands, not proud of it but it's there), and I have come to terms with my own mortality. The only reason I would not be content to die at this age is that my kids are still children. My youngest son just turned 7 yesterday (the 7th). So I wouldn't want to die leaving them motherless. Beyond that, I do not fear death. I fear life sometimes. I admit that there are times when I am very lonely. #foreveralone lol. I fear life if I'm going to be alone. But I have to keep myself surrounded by people I care about and then I'm fine.

On another note, I finally decided to spend the money on my phone plan for international calling so I can call my kids without a phone card.

I'm less afraid of death itself and more of not being able to look back at the time and be proud of my life.

                  Scorpions are also scary.

I'm more afraid of losing a hand than death. That would essentially kill me, as all my talents and passions require two hands (programming/video games/drawing.)

However I do resent the temporary and high-maintenance nature of my body. I wouldn't mind affixing my soul to a suit of armor if it meant no more sleep or hunger, but losing my dick is a deal breaker. I have a right to program unhindered, damn it.

I hear you on that one. Back when I started having wrist problems I was scared out of my mind that I'd lose the use of my hands. You never realize just how essential your hands are to everything you do until the specter of losing them appears to you. It's downright terrifying.

On that note, I highly recommend investing in a trackball for day-to-day mousing and a good ergonomic keyboard is simply a joy to use.

I move around a lot so I prefer a smaller, portable wireless mouse. I think I'm going to invest in a good lap desk though, because all the tables at work are retarded high. Fortunately my fiance is studying to be a chiropractor so she can help minimize the damage in the meantime.

Funny thing about these. They never seemed to benefit me nearly as much as they should. I spent the better part of my life learning to type quickly on my own. I actually chicken-peck at 65wpm. I've tried to type "the way you're supposed to" but I could never get used to it. Hell... it took me the better part of a year to train myself to type without looking at the keyboard.

I dunno what to tell you, I got my start back in elementary school and haven't really had any problems with typing since then. Well except for the number keys, but that's what the numpad is for.

The keyboard I use at home is the Microsoft Natural Elite. Easily one of the most comfortable keyboards I've ever had. I'm still pretty annoyed that Microsoft patented the shape of it, since it means none of their competitors can make use of it. Can you imagine Logitech getting their hands on that shit? I'd love to see what kind of keyboard they'd make if they were allowed to use that shape.

Mario Teaches Typing did it for me. I was ecstatic to have anything related to video games in my middle school computer class. Plus, I had a very strict no-cheat policy for video games, so if Mario Teaches Typing says I can't look at the keyboard, I don't look at the keyboard. The faster you typed, the faster Mario ran, so I got hooked on making him run as fast as I could.

I don't think it's really the way you're supposed to, but rather the most efficient method. Don't let anybody get you down! You can type however you were born to!
