If you see something that you think needs to be addressed by a moderator, use the report post button. It's the triangle with an exclamation mark in the bottom left of the post box.

We've gotten a lot more lax with rules enforcement as the community has gotten smaller, and a lot of us aren't nearly as active as we used to be.

Seriously. I check the reported posts every morning and see nothing. I think there have been something like 5 in the past month. 2 of those 5 were more or less jokes.

If you see something that looks off, light that report button up. We can't be in all threads at all times. Sometimes it helps when the community brings our attention to something that is otherwise easily overlooked.

Plus we all have biases. That's the whole reason I expanded the mod team again. Sometimes the mod who is in the thread can't see the problem because they're in the middle of it, and we don't expect our mods to stop being regular posters. If you report a post, that gets everyone's eyes on it and put it in triage, rather than having one guy be judge, jury, and executioner.

I do my job. Bots and spammers get banned, altercations get resolved and the peace is kept (within reason). Aside from my disagreements with Melody, all my dealings have been conducted in private and without bias. I don't seek validation for my actions, nor do I expect it. Say what you will about myself or the other Mods, but there's more happening behind the scenes than you'd think. In the past 24 hours alone we were hit with a surge of spam bots. The only reason you don't know about them is because we handled them quickly.

Additionally: As per my understanding with Icemage, I have ceased interactions with melody aside from peace-keeping moderation (as allowed under Melody's terms). As such, due to circumstances in RL that render Ice absent for an undisclosed amount of time, I took it upon myself to inform her of said absence. My hopes in doing so were to prevent him from being bothered if such a problem as she had with Cid could be amicably resolved without peeling him away from matters more important than a trivial forum argument. I additionally spoke to TM about the matter and had a talk with Cid in private to inform him that he nearly crossed a line at which point he agreed to stop his behavior.

Should the very beginning of this altercation have been brought to the attention of the moderation team by way of the "Report Post" button that I know for a fact Cid is quite aware of, this could have been nipped in the bud. In the future, report before responding.

My hat is off to the DiV community for micromanaging itself with a level of civility unlike that of most forums. Most know when enough is enough and nearly everyone has thick enough skin to take a joke to the face and say "well done".

On a random note, should I bother waiting for the North American release of PSO2 in 2013, or try to play the Japanese version now? Or is that still possible? I can't read another language worth shit, but it looks so fun! D:
