Hopefully it's not a case of Cry Wolf.

That actually happened in the UK before. We get hit by the tail end of hurricanes being carried by the Gulf Stream though most of them fizzle out before they reach us. Still every now and then we do get hit by part of one as it died down.

Anyway back to the story: Weather forecasts across the country insisted that it would be impossible for a hurricane to ever reach the UK.

Guess what happened the next day?

Yeah, I got the warning of Sandy. They said the storm surge was making 10 FT waves....but yet they're not scaling this based off Katrina which left it's victims devastated. Unless it's Katrina magnitude then I am calling bull pucky on this one. Where I live, I live close to the Thames River (Google Earth it) and that flows a good few miles behind my house and my house is on a terrace based looking land area. We have people behind us who live on a higher up wall, so the only real threat is probably going to be the wind which will be blowing hard, I did prepare though since I don't fuck around during hurricanes and I tied all my things down and put cinderblocks in my trashcans, friend of mine helped me clear out the gutters this afternoon. I have all three cell phones charged, I went out and bought 24 packs of qoland spring water (good stuff) and I have flashlights and canned food for the next damn great depression stored downstairs in the basement.

Well, it's only a matter of time before my power goes out due to some pansy tree who gave up on life. How to spend my time wisely...

              That storm was a disappointment.

Lost power due to the storm yesterday right as I got home. Called in to take the day off this morning since the power was still out and shortly thereafter my power came back on. Now I've got a day off and all the comforts of civilization. Hurray!

I'm thinking about registering a domain name with an obnoxious yet fairly entertaining name, almost solely for the e-mail address, but also just to throw up flash loops every once in a while. Kind of like DickCream or CookieThievery. I was thinking of ButtButtButtDatButt.com or NachosAndBooty.com.

There was an old domain back in like 1997 called Big Ass Web that had a free webmail service, so I signed up as Fart_Queen@bigassweb.com. That domain and e-mail have long gone with the wind, but it was easily the most hilarious e-mail I've ever hard.

so some dweeb from Malaysia has apparently been been an online acquaintance of my fiancée for some time now; for the past year all he's done is send sporadic messages nearly groveling for her to be his girlfriend. His latest was something along the lines of "I'm going to China! I have a new passport! And want a girl! Will you join me?", my fiancée's reply was "Uh, I'm not planning to go to China. Good luck finding a girlfriend!", to which he was like "Would it kill you to come to the mainland with me?"

Scrolling back, he has sent things in the past along the lines of "My preferences are Chinese > Korean > Japanese...", talking at length about how he prefers Chinese girls because "What's the point of dating someone with blood I already have?", and so on, just fall-out-of-chair hilariawesome nutty crap.

not even mad bro, it's absolutely hilarious to see the way some guys try to attract her, especially considering that apparently the whole "Hey, I have yellow fever" thing is actually something that more than one guy has actually tried to use as some kind of reason to date him. Also I find it incredibly amusing to realize that I'm also now on the flipside of the unrequited love "I love her so much more than that asshole ever will" equation.

/in unrelated news, I didn't realize this until recently, but my fiancée is a complete ツンデレ

Just got back from Wreck It Ralph. I suppose it should come as no surprise, but Disney being the way it is, the story is a little cookie cutter and predictable, though told well enough. Most of the movie takes place in the "Sugar Rush" setting. The movie does hit all the gaming tropes on the right note though. The cameos are actually pretty sparse, so it's mostly the new characters acting these out. And I really liked the mixed up elements, like how a FPS character ends up having to go exploring a kiddy game. It's weird. But it works.

I sometimes wonder why this forum has mods, when they don't really do much in the way of moderation... Unless it offends them personally.
