Kingdom Hearts is a strange series. I find that people either love it or hate it. On some level I realize that I’m being manipulated. It’s fanservice and if you don’t love Disney you probably just look at the KH series and shake your head. I can’t really explain why getting to jump into all these Disney worlds is such a thrill for me. Think about it this way though: What if it wasn’t Disney, what if it was Nintendo? What if Sora’s Keyblade let him fight alongside Link and Samus in their worlds? What if he battled Bowser and collected actual Pokemon? What if Donkey Kongklajhsd

Sorry, I just blacked out there for a second.

I need to go lay down.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea at all.

I think the problem with that sort of world (well, conjoining of worlds) is how coherent the environment and characters will be. Final Fantasy fits so well with Disney because of how "fantastical" the two are. Personally, I find it awkward enough to play Smash Bros and have Mario and Samus in the same game. Add in some Disney characters and it just somehow irks me.

Didn't say anything about Nintendo AND Disney. That'd just be silly. For real, though, we're talking about a game that stars a kid with a giant key. I don't think there's a whole lot of cognitive dissonance in having him accompany Mario and Link on adventures. KH pulled off The Lion King and Steamboat Willie. Hell, they managed to drag Pirates of the Caribbean and Tron into what previously only included animated films.

EDIT: I'm not saying the Disney worlds thing is bad, or that Nintendo would've made it better, but it's interesting to consider the alternative.

Now I'm just confused and I read that wrong. (I seem to be doing that lately. D: ) So then you want Final Fantasy and Nintendo? That would be even stranger. :p

That's what people said about Final Fantasy and Disney. Also, it's not like Mushroom Kingdom hasn't seen its fair share of weirdos:

Nintendo's mascot is a middle aged Italian man who travels his universe via warp pipes, grabs mushrooms to gain superpowers, and whose arch nemesis is a fire breathing turtle...

                ...

                ...just saying.

Exactly. It's like the grunge-industrial fantasy colliding with bubblegum fantasy. It doesn't mix as well as FF and Disney would and does.

Edit: I seriously think I'm developing some kind of mental grammar reading block disorder disease. 'Cause I can't bleeding type anymore.

Most FF characters look cartoony in the Kingdom Hearts universe. Heck, Yuna/Rikku/Paine are little kids. Trust me, you can work with it if you really wanted to. Or you could just exclude the FF characters altogether. They're not all that relevant.

Grunge-industrial isn't usually what comes to mind when I'm fighting alongside teenybopper mermaids or executing attacks that make rainbows and glitter fly around. But eh...

I just, personally, wouldn't categorize Mario as bubblegum, glitter, or whatever you want to call it. Just don't see Disney working well with it.

I did not have an orgy.

But I did get several phone numbers, some free drinks and a coffee date. It's a shame that I didn't really feel any spark with any of the guys that liked me, but that's life. Plus I've been single less than a week.

My "fun friend" just called me and told me he doesn't want to see me anymore. I guess it's overdue, but I still liked him. A lot.

                            Gonna go cry now.

                            kthxbye.

Dream Drop Distance dropped all but moogles and it still worked.

If you want to talk about a crossover that clashes horribly, that would be Playstation All Stars Battle Royale. Smash Bros. always features characters with some level of 2D heritage, which even Solid Snake has, but most of the characters in PSASB don't have a 2D background and are just thrown into a 2D brawler anyway. Its shameless, unthinking copypasta at its finest. Even MK vs DC had the dignity to ground art styles equally so they didn't clash upon meeting. Same thing with MVC3 and SFXT. Even Dissidia made a good effort to blend Amano and Nomura's art styles so all characters seemed a bit more consistent standing next to each other. Pokemon Conquest just turned the Samurai Warriors cast into standard anime fare and that worked out beautifully. PSABR is just vomit by comparison to all of these. Even Little Big Planet would be embarrassed to be seen with this.

Nothing in Smash Bros really clashes. Samus is made more cartoony, the Fox McCloud a touch more realistic, Kirby's just Kirby, Mario gets more realistic clothing. It all seems to mesh. The Kirby aesthetic also clearly worked for the Ice Climbers, so even they don't feel out of place.

Though I will say Crisis Core pretty much used the KH style graphics for Final Fantasy characters, just minus some of the super deformity of KH.
