Internet Meme's are getting a bit out of hand, eh?

However, best comment I saw was this one.

So last night, I got home from work around 4:15 AM, grabbed some hot dogs for "dinner" and started to get just about ready to get into bed. I get into the bedroom and there's a huge roach in the corner so I'm like, "well fuck that, can't sleep now," so I come back out to the living room and prepare to camp out when I get a text from my boss asking if I'm up.

I'm not the type to ignore texts especially from a new boss I'm trying hard to impress, so I ask what's up? She tells me that our second in command (I'm third) had a seizure and asks if I can come back in to finish out our closing procedures for the evening. I don't even hesitate and tell her I'm on the way. I made it there in record time and started doing all the work. He was like, holyfuckshit behind. I ended up working from 5:15 until 8:00 to catch up - we're usually done with this work by 5 - and I was asked by my boss to be the manager tonight. The boss is out of town and couldn't come back to cover.

I've been trained and I know all I need to know about the job, but this is my first night doing it on my own. It's St. Pat's day and a Saturday night with low staffing though, which I already know is going to be hectic. But, when I told my boss that I'd be all right and we'd all help each other out, she told me she had full confidence in me. So I know I'm going to be fine.

What a crazy night. I worked from 1900-0300, stayed a little late to talk to the second in command, worked another 2.5 hours after I'd already come home, and I'm back in again tonight for another 10 hour shift. Holy fuck my life is crazy, why do I even begin to believe that I can have a life? lol.

FUUU- My TV went ka-blooey. Time to go shopping!

In the mean time, I have to use this tiny little 17" thing... How did I live before big screen TVs?

I swear, there's only space for three of my book marks!

I was about to ask what you even use a TV for but then I remembered other people own consoles.

              Why does nothing last anymore?
              Everything breaks nowadays.
My grandparents had a tv for a large portion of my life. Same tv had no problems ever. The only reason they got a new one was because they had our old one and they only had that because my grandad thought he'd enjoy having a remote.

I'd love a job in quality control because aparently they do fk all but rubberstamp broken/faulty things and we buy them and buy another when it breaks.

I actually think stuff is designed to break, so people have to buy more of it.

                  I know right.

Most of my old consoles as back as far as the sega master system, I imagine if I got them out of the loft and unboxed it, It would still work. I have an old atari thing too that probably would still work. I cant even think how old that is the controler is a black stick with an orange/red button.
My xbox360 on the other hand. probably not even a month worth in total play time spread over 3+ years and it's on it's way out. Seriously though I treated my 360 like a child, delicately and kept it pristene and it's dying.

I agree. My First PS3 lasted like 2-3 months (New), and my second one is starting to break down (Stalling now, along with data corruption.).

I highly doubt this; there's a reason TV repair shops existed. Vacuum tubes aren't exactly paragons of reliability either.

The thing is, you don't need to design electronics that break. The beauty of electronics is that their power doubles every 3 years, so regardless or whether your Genesis lasts 5 years or 50, a new console would pop around in due time and render it obsolete. Same thing with cell phones, laptops, tablets, you name it.

The case of the XBox is simply Microsoft using higher specs than the 360's ventilation would allow.

I got all the school work done that I wanted to over break.
My alma mater (and future grad school) beat my current grad school in the NCAA tourney, gloriously (IU 63, VCU 61)
My shiny new PS3 with Graces F and FF13 (all for less than 300) is waiting to be played once I finish getting things ready for tomorrow. (thanks uncle sam!)

This week is going to start off well. I don't think I bombed my midterms two weeks ago, so it should continue to go well.

It's ok, if we are lucky WWIII will leave the planet devastated. And either science goes back 100 years or humanity is so screwed up be the end of it we will just go extinct. Then those little bastards wont get to play Highlander.

There's probably some level of that, but I suspect it has more to do with the fact that products are becoming increasingly complex. The more "moving parts" the more likely it is to break down.
